I will always love this movie. They run into that building with no idea what they're about to deal with, so they go in like a boss with no brains. Just as they did at the library-where that old lady ghost sent them screaming. Same at the Sedgewick Hotel, where they pompously make a showy entrance before nearly killing the maid; relieved their packs didn't set a crater in midtown Manhattan. Gotta fake it till you make it in business. So, at the final showdown, they're forced to choose suicide... by a giant marshmallow man. Darwin award. Of course, they are in God's favor, for sake that this movie is maybe one of the best films ever, and so God protected the three from the fires of the crossed streams.

Even at 50 years of age I still get giddy as a kid during this scene

8 June 1984 -- almost 40 years.

I remember being 6 years old when I saw this on TV . I was in TEARS after the ground swallows up the GB cause I thought they were dead . There was a commercial so my dad had to talk to me and convince me they were not defeated that easy ! My dad died 22 years ago and I miss him more every day .

When the street opens and the Ghostbusters come out, I get goosebumps every time. Hollywood is having a difficult time capturing that feeling in their films today.

Cost 25-30 million to make. Made about 300 million at the box office. One of the biggest hits of 1984 and still has better special effects then anything made today in my opinion.
