In regards to systemic pesticide.... You mention it can harm the bees, we've been fortunate enough to have hummingbirds nest in ours. Could that insecticide harm them as well?

I can't speak to how to actual chemical would affect them, but the pesticide is present throughout the entire plant. And more than likely would be present in the flower and nectar.

Great informative video. I planted a 15 gallon Crepe Myrtle a month ago and it's going from good to worse. It's about dead now, even though I've watered it 2-3 times a week. Then every other day when it got 90-100 degrees, the leave are dry and brittle like it never gets watered. I'm very sad about it. It's a dark purple variety. My soil is clay & well draining. Mixed with some acidic and some organic compost. Maybe it was planted incorrectly. BooHooo

Did you plant the rootball slightly above the soil line? With clay soil, you always want to plant this way or water will sit right beneath the rootbll.

Depends on the size that you purchase. Usually, 3 gallon Crape Myrtles are too young to bloom; however, a 15 gallon is 3-4 years old and will bloom!

It is probably due to drought and heat. While they are very drought and heat tolerant, they may still show signs of stress. You can water thoroughly every other day and that should help.

I love this video. It’s very comprehensive. Although I do need, or rather would like to state my experience with a couple of the things you said that are a bit contradictory. I kept and have kept Hardy hibiscus, or, the perennial variety for decades now. And, mine grow closer to 10 feet tall and about the same diameter around. Usually I have to stake them up and tie them back. And, that is including cutting them back to the ground every year. I also have had rose of Sharon in multiple homes, multiple trees or rather shrubs. Although, I use the word tree because that’s exactly what mine turned into. They were closer to 15 or 20 feet tall, and we kept them trimmed to look like trees. Are these the same type of rose of Sharon that you are talking about? Thank you for the awesome video.🐠🦯

Hi there. It depends on the size of the plant and the type of fertilizer. The fertilizer bag should say how much to use based on the size of the tree.

You should consider starting a channel or playlist for how to's or other tutorials for people just starting out in the garden center business. I own a small hardware store and we're trying to grow our garden center area - so just having video's from you for not only the owner but also our staff to educate them would be amazing. I know a lot of us are in the same boat, so you would have a lot of very appreciative supporters. You could do everything from stocking plants and determining inventory needs for zones and demographics. Or setting up displays, layouts or the appropriate structures for retail environment; or even what to water with sprinklers or how to deal with the plants the days the business is closed to budgeting and calculating margins for owners. And for associates videos on how to care for plants at different sizes - such as watering or pruning or to know if the plant is not healthy and needs to be discontinued or disposed. Just a central place for all of us to get the same valuable education to be able to help each other grow. This area is so scarce in resources and I truly feel like you could make a big impact with the value of your knowledge and experience.

Depends on the type and where you live. If it is the tropical, you will need to bring it indoors (inside the house or garage). If it gets below 50-55 degrees, it will need to come in or be covered.
