I have a complete blue corn set from my grandmother. My husband wanted one to make ramen & noticed it has A 26 on the bottom. Can you tell the age by it? Is there a site that will tell you the age?

I hope this comment comes off as constructive criticism rather than just griping. That’s how it’s intended, I promise. My husband and I are subscribers and always enjoy your videos. This one, though, we found so frustrating. We often make trips to antique fairs as vacation time. We watch videos of places we’re interested in to see what kind of vendors and especially the types and variety of items that have been on offer previously. Just to help decide if this is a venue worth traveling so far to attend. We’re happy that the turnout was so good, and you are justifiably proud of the festival. But it was very disappointing that most of the video focused on the crowd, rather than the vendors and items. We definitely realize that it was a very busy day and you likely had no time for videoing at all. Still, it would be helpful to viewers considering a trip to the festival to be better able to judge if the vendor content will be worth the trip. Again, I hope this doesn’t read as rude or nit-picking. It isn’t intended to be.

I appreciate the comment and will focus more on vendors and content next year

Mike, I have difficulty pricing items. I buy 50 cent items and ask myself what would I like to pay if I collected said item from antque shop. I also price by popularity. Like Pyrex is hot. Generally I turn 50 cents into $5-$10. I have a very small space in Mt Pleasant Mi

WARNING!! I had a complete set of all the original blue cornflower corning ware. I amassed it over the years. Five years ago I sent two casseroles to my sister who was ill. Her nephew returned the casseroles and lids-----she washed them and put them in a paper bag. It was Feb. and the weather was cold. On the way to my house (5 min. away from hers), one casserole simply exploded----with shards of glass all over the car, and a large one lodging in the dashboard. Her nephew had to go to the ER to have some small pieces of the casserole removed from the back of his neck. No more corning ware casseroles for me! In another case, another cousin had the large blue cornflower coffee pot. It blew up on the stove, sending shards of glass all over the kitchen----some were stuck in the walls, while others lodged in the cabinet doors-----that's how intense the explosion was. PLEASE BE CAREFUL IF YOU WANT TO USE THE ORIGINAL BLUE CORNFLOWER CORNING WARE. IT'S A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN.

As a collector, I think that low values (Avon, Precious Moments, Beanies, etc.) mean that it's easier for me to add to my collection. A buyer's market. I think of Hummerls. Sometimes these things turn around with time, as we look for things that we saw in our homes when we were children.

Mike , thank you for the response . I worked 30 years in the auto parts business . We called our business recession proof . When the economy is strong people would buy accessories and cleaners for their cars when the economy is down people buy fewer new cars and buy parts to maintain their cars .

Hi Mike, Thanks again for taking the time to do these Q & A's....always useful to hear your thoughts on the variety of subjects. Here's another Q for you. How do you "manage" your vendors? Specifically, what do you consider when evaluating a potential new vendor for the store? I assume you don't want someone who offers very similar items to those of your existing vendors, someone who is going to keep their items "fresh" and fairly priced...and how you go about helping them succeed? Maybe you should teach a course on "Vendor Management 101" someday!
