Most overrated band ever still living off one hit single and being popular for a couple of years in the 80's off the back of it. Any American who says they were into them before 1980 is probably talking out their ass because they were niche as hell and bigger in Europe in the 70's. I've never once seen what is good about this band outside of a catchy hit that broke America. Just a bunch of pretentious art students who thought they were being clever with satire.

I first got into Devo in like 09 (i was 15)? VH1 was airing a special about 1 hit wonders. during that special with the part about Devo, I heard a live snippet of Jocko Homo and it caught my year for some reason. I started listening to Devo on early youtube and i really liked what I was hearing. I personally think you're wrong because Q: Are We Not Men? A: We are Devo was the first album i got into by them. I think Whip It is kinda meh. Devo was one of the first bands i found where their stuff before they got famous was more intriguing than what came after they hit commercial peak. Hardcore Devo Vol. 1 and 2 I love. I get the criticism, but also feel Devo has always had a sense of humor that saves them from being over bearingly pretentious. I'm not trying to change your mind tho, if you dont like em thats fine. tho I think your time would be better spent listening to bands you actually like instead of going on videos insulting bands other people like, tho it is perfectly in your rights to do so. hope you have a good night/day ✌

I was at this show. August 3rd 1996 at Irvine Meadows, Lollapalooza. For anyone curious the line-up was Screaming trees Devo Rancid The ramones A martial arts display Soundgarden Metallica. There was an opener before screaming trees but I forgot their name…I was 14 years old. Yeah most of the people including me were there for sound garden and Metallica. At least that day turned me onto the Ramones. Again I was 14.
