It's a journey. That probably will never end and always feel like it's miles away from perfection.

my next guitar. les paul is killing my back

I have both. It is a bit lighter but not crazy lighter. At least my model. But my Gretsch Hollowbody with Staple P90's is super duper light at only 5.9lbs and sounds just as good imo.

It can't be a Stones cover - you're using 6 strings! 😉
@joegoliver35 ай бұрын
You know they use to use slide tunings, but if you watch them live on more recent versions they play it like this in standard tuning. Which sounds a bit different honestly, but it's all pretty close imo.

I have this with the night train cab with a 12" Greenback but have never really bonded with this amp. It seems to hate pedals and unfortunately has no effects loop. Think a tube swap could make the difference?
@joegoliver3 Жыл бұрын
It does hate pedals with more than a touch of gain. I only find low gain pedals to work well with it. The Timmy, Zen Drive, and Joyo Sweet Baby Overdrive all work great if you just add a tiny bit of gain and almost set the pedal like a clean boost almost. That's just how low wattage amps are though. They lack headroom and fall apart when pushed wrong. I was not a big Greenback fan with this amp either. Was very sterile imo. I went with a Blue Dog Alnico from Weber and it was great. But any decent Alnico speaker will yield pretty convincing Vox tones. This amp for me I set the volume to about 75% and the gain to a little less than half. The EQ I set as treble at just under half and bass just over half way on the knob. I always use the bright setting personally. But speaker cab and speaker choice can make or break any low wattage amp. I definitely think it does better with an open back cab..

Some vintage ones pulled from a Hammond organ. It was a while back, but I wanna say one was a 12au7 and then two 12ax7's. The stock tubes caused this weird ghost note that drove me crazy.

What do you guys think of the sound of this tiny little guy! By the way it has more than enough volume to practice with a drummer unmic'd as long as he respects the amount of volume you have. But its a great amp at conversation level as well as cranked. I never really go above 70% volume here in this video. Tell me your thoughts.

so I have giged with that amp for 20+ years... it's everything you need in a solid state amp

Mate, this method works best for me, the bit about cutting the tops at an angle stops that annoying airlock that causes the dry hits. Using a zeus x, their own tutorial is only suited to max 60vg. I found that if I fanned the wick out like a pancake then cut across the top and made a flat vee to go into the channel about 3/4 way down gave no leaks or dry hits.

So what build do u use lol, have u found any kantahl build to work ?, I just bought the nectar micro and it's on route now, I'm planing on trying 28 gage and probably 8 wraps micro coil, I may even space the coil out as that tends to cause no spitback in my experience
