Makes you realize how good Gretzky was at it. His precision and quickness at this move was unmatched. He also did it in crazy areas of the ice, like in the middle of centre ice sometimes 😃

Nice stick handling... Absolutely horrible defense or more accurately no defense. Overall I feel that the recent increase in scoring is due to a move to more mobile defenseman who are less physical.

The sad part is he's our best defenseman. He's not bad. He's a top 32 D in the League. But like....he's #32. And he's overpaid at this point.

Nice collection! Personally, I like the 'Gretzky Turn' monaker. I think at the time a lot of players called it the 'Curl Up'. Button Curl may have become popular over the years since Gretz played.

@@paulkellygolf I disagree. Watch Hanifin and Lindholm. They both go to Draisaitl and leave McDavid in the slot. Johnnys guy is the left point. Could he have helped more in the slot? Sure, but I would give much more of the blame to Lindholm and Hanifin for not communicating, both going to the wall and leaving the most dangerous threat in hockey in the slot.

I love how patient he is. He doesn't make a rash play when he's pressured. In a lot of these clips, he makes a simple move to evade a forechecker and buys enough time to see where an open player might be. You want a guy that calm and confident in your back end.
