Was interesting to hear Ali Ahmed on Footy Prime saying he thinks he can be valuable in the center midfield. I want to see a 4-5-1/4-1-4-1 experimented with against Netherlands and France. It'd be interesting to see Eustaquio sit in a proper CDM role with Kone and Ahmed.

Love the content. It's nice seeing three more introverted people on a podcast. David had a chance a play for US national team. What was it that made him choose Canada when US had a much more established team at the time and Canada was still really struggling at that point.

Yo JD, Kyle, Tajon if you read this you should pick one commenter from each ep and let them play you in Eafc. Ever been scored on by your self lol? All 3 of you are on my ultimate team

Man i hope this pod pops off and does well. As a huge soccer fan this is so cool. Northern Futbol is a great pod for canadian soccer but to have a podcast where we can hear from the players them selves i feel is pretty special. Especially cuz JD is my favourite player and im excited to tune in every ep and hear from the Iceman himself , and from Larin too. Our country's top 2 national team goal scorers of all time. 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦

Can u talk about what do all u know about all ur rivals in Copa America Group A?
@jrcanuck12 ай бұрын
That was interesting! Good job! I too would like to see you speak with more Canadian Nationals, even if you have to do it by Zoom. I would have liked you to ask more about what Tajon feels that he has to do to become a starter & when he thinks that will happen. It would have also been good if you guys could have discussed your Canadian team mates more & how they are doing on their respective teams, as well as the potential of young Canadians development & which players you think could make the Canadian National team & the potential of any of them to become star players. I know that it's a sensitive topic, but it would be great to hear you guys discuss the changes going on with Soccer Canada & if they hire a new coach, who would you like to see become Canada's coach. Plus, what can we do to improve young players development in Canada? * Your audio is not great. You should get an audio expert in to help you with that.

Awesome pod! Q1: Has Jonathan ever missed a chance at Lille and said Tabernacle or other Quebec swear words, and players wondered what he was talking about? Q2: Way back like the 1980's energy management was a huge part of the game. 10's and 9's would spend most of the game walking. Fast counter attacks from centre didn't really work because by the time you got a chance to shoot your legs were wobbly - I heard it was from lactic acids. How do you train to reduce the wobbly legs? Also, the old style was quite foreign to Canadians, the modern game is becoming more and more like Ice Hockey or Basketball. Do you think that helps Canada's intuition? Maybe that's why Canada fights so much.

Something I would love to hear talked about is: Which players are overrated? Who did the guys face at a club or on the international stage, where they were worried about this player or that one, who everyone thinks is incredible... But the guys are left thinking, "Wtf... This guy isn't all that."

Eyy good stuff, Canadian here . I have Argentinian background and it’s nice seeing Canadian football get respect down there since Qatar. They see us a complicated opponent for the Copa. As a lifelong supporter of Canadian soccer that’s already a big win. I believe we can get out of the group

I can appreciate that it's difficult for you guys to talk openly about what went wrong with Jamaica. I would say Tajon is right to point to a lack of game management, which is of course; tactics. To play a wide open game when up 3-1 needlessly opens doors for an opponent who is desperate to get back into the game. It is true that sometimes the best form of defense is a strong attack, but it is hard to maintain intensity when enjoying such a lead, whereas your opponent is desperate. But also, a defensive tactic should be switched to as soon as the opponent is showing they can overcome the attacking pressure. Jamaica recognized the ref was allowing open play. They made a tactical change at the half, bringing Lowe into the midfield with a clear objective to go out with aggressive pressure and create turnovers. He was yellow carded for fouling Eustaquio from behind, but they had nothing to lose and kept it going. Canada's tactics on the other hand, did not adjust. Jamaica did what they needed to do and it paid off, but Canada allowed it to happen. Some basic game management would have closed the door. It's tough because we fans LOVE the exciting, open play you guys have become famous for, but the reality is that unless you're Brazil, it's incredibly difficult to play at the highest levels while only playing that way. A more mature and tactically active approach to the game is the next evolutionary step for the program. You guys deserve a world class tactical coach with experience at the highest levels, and I hope we see you get one. Ricardo Pasquel said recently that Canada could be a top 10 FIFA ranked team within a handful of years, and I wholeheartedly agree. Congrats on your successes, gents!
@skeptical44462 ай бұрын
Well said. Top 10 is a HUGE stretch, but if we can somehow get a world class coach who has experience and knows what it takes to win at the highest levels... who knows maybe we could win a match or two at the next world cup. Unfortunately the way that Canada Soccer is managed and handled business wise and the pathetic decision making by the people in charge of our international programs is not helping us grow.
@greglawrence92302 ай бұрын
@@skeptical4446 I agree with the concerns behind the scenes. Teams like Belgium, Croatia, Morocco....they're what I'd point to as evidence of top 10 being very reasonable with this golden generation we're being blessed with. And I think Kevin Blue has given us reason to be optimistic things are being turned around. Let's hope. Sounds like we're getting a friendly with France right after the Netherlands!
