I want to check my understanding here, but on the QB draw out of quads, the inside receiver (just outside of the 2 TEs) is covered up so he's ineligible, right? So this is a draw the whole way, since you can't throw if that WR goes down the field.
@coachescaviar8898Күн бұрын
You can throw it behind the line of scrimmage with him blocking so there is still a chance for the bubble or screen.
@Saitch51Күн бұрын
@@coachescaviar8898 Okay that makes sense. Now that you point it out, I've seen that covered up receiver actually receive a backwards pass before. Paul Johnson did that once and it blew my mind.

Don't tell anyone but it sure does look like there is a ton of triple concepts at play here just out of the spread instead of the wishbone...

GT is very fortunate. We have two very experienced and durable quarterbacks that can run and throw. We also have a very experienced offensive line that has been together for a lot of years. GT is a very good, tough team.

a few GT penalties and couple other wiffed opportunities kept fsu in the game this coulda/shoulda been a much easier win ..

That's what I thought too! The stats say it should have been a game that they won by a couple of scores.

yeah they got fsu to 4th down twice before the half fsu huge fg kept em in it, whiffed on the wide open td scored one anyway, that horrible fumble they overcame it .. just seemed like they were doin twice the work and still just gettin it done .. the long drive to kill the clock there lol not easy gotta be good ..

As an FSU fan, all I can do is give it up to GT for playing a heck of a great game. Way to go GT, you showed our guys what hardcore disciplined football is supposed to look like. I hope they learn from you. Great great job GT.
@MrTadfortitudeКүн бұрын
It seems to me like GT was SO good at running every play perfectly with precision. While FSU defense was reactionary.perhaps thinking they could rely on their athleticism to rush to to the ball instead of seeing what's coming.

"Against one of the better defenses in the country." Not sure I agree with that. FSU was pretty good in 2023, allowing 19.1 points per game. But, a lot of the best players from last year have moved on from the college game. It's too early to tell if they'll be similar to last year. One game is a small sample size, but the way GATech consistently pushed the front seven around in this game make me think there's going to be a significant step backwards in the FSU defense in 2024.

I wonder if that Washington unbalanced line can be used in the NFL. I know there are different rules for those kinds of things
@coachescaviar88987 күн бұрын
That's a good question. I just looked it up and from what I found you would have to move the tackle over instead of the TE. You can't cover up an eligible number or it would be penalty.

Ok so two lucky plays -- makes him clutch. Bro Deboer's defenses are not that good. I don't know why but even with his "winning record" -- they are always having to make "Clutch calls" because they have subpar defenses and are forced to do so.
@jasonthomas40104 күн бұрын
He beat a more talented team (Oregon) twice in the same year I would call that clutch
@Deep.Purple9 күн бұрын
Also notice that DeBoer has crappy defenses... good thing that offense is so "good". Which is WHY games are "close" and for no other reason.

What formations do u think we rely on most offense ?
@coachescaviar889810 күн бұрын
I would think mostly stay in 11 or 20 personnel and be in a wide variety of formations from empty sets to heavy sets. He has done a really good job of not getting stagnant with the looks he gives the defense.
@christopherwoodson716212 күн бұрын
If he would have went outside he could have gotten more yards but think about what you could do off that hard play action fake
@scottdewitt-on7ui12 күн бұрын
He might try that in the SEC BUT ... that was against a very bad Michigan state team early last year. It probably won't do well against the better half of the SEC.

Everyone saying we Bama have more talent than Washington had last year is stupid. They had the best o line last year best 4 receivers in college football a solid RB and the Heisman trophy runner up qb. To say we have more talent is premature thinking. We may have a more talented all around roster but I'd rather have talent and experience
@coachescaviar889812 күн бұрын
Great point! Those WR's along with Penix can make up for a lack of talent in a couple of other areas. Those WR's weren't as highly regarded coming out of high school as most of the WR's from Alabama so I hope that they can develop them as well as they did at Washington.

A prelude to Kalen DeBoer's success in the SEC is the 2023 National Championship game. SEC defense is comparable to Michigan's defense from last year. And DeBoer's offense was stagnant against it.
@BamaKing-he2gd17 күн бұрын
That's not a valid point 😂 Michigan was better than 95% of sec teams and his Washington team beat Texas (who beat Bama by 10 last year). He knows what he's doing.
