You end up depressed and lonely and misunderstood by your family members

The drug war is at fault - PERIOD - the beauracracy will not diagnose us with adhd - but will label us bipolar - bpd - depressed etc and throw poison at us in the form of pharma and identity crushing labels just to avoid prescribing psychostimulants - im 51 and my trauma adhd and failure has destroyed me -im absolutely my worst nightmare - my gift lost to my curses and every bit more confidence I lose is another weapon the midwits in psychiatric care seize upon to deny me my medication

Because of the lack of diagnosis I have nothing in my life, literally I haven't even developed a single useful skill and I'm 34

I'm so sorry this has been your experience. A lot of us feel something similar. At thirty four, you've got your whole life ahead of you. My guess is, you've got a whole range of skills. In my experience, the hard part is figuring out to what purpose I want to apply my capabilities. Rick of RenaFi.com

I got diagnosed for inattentive adhd a month ago at 20. Reading the comments I understand how fortunate I am for catching it early, but I only realised when my college sent out a free adhd assessment at the start of this academic year, that it all made sense. I went through the whole year trying to manage and realising how it was getting worse. I had to push myself to get it. I empathise with all of those who got diagnosed later than me, I know how fortunate my situation.

I'm a 42 year old woman who is waiting for a diagnosis. I'm starting to realise that all the things that I have struggled to overcome in my life (poor school participation, trouble making friends as a child, bad mental health, drug issues, and over eating, slow to establish a career and progress in life as fast as my peers) may all have been as a result of my very clear undiagnosed ADHD. It makes me feel very sad for the struggling little girl who was overlooked and not helped but happy to finally understand myself and learn to not hate myself as much as I've been tought to ❤

Yep, the grief for the life that "coulda, shoulda, woulda been" had we only known. You're not alone. It's grief process that has light on the other side. Rick of RenaFi.com,

My Drs just chucked antidepressents at me. I didnt even know what Adhd was. I am very inattentive.

Some of them do that. We have to self advocate, which isn't easy considering ADHD is an EF based challenge. Rick of RenaFi.com

Lol... actual research shows its especially stupid to use when you have adhd.. Yoir brain already has a dopamine problem and then you take a downer that takes away the power of your hyperfocus. This makes an adhd person the most useless and lazy People arround. Just gave yourself a kick under the but stand up and do what you have to do.. adhd People can do that to. Modern snowflake problems... users always use excuses why it actually works for them .😅 personal experience tales from users is no research. There is research on education and marihuana with adhd and add... its not positive at all.

I see that! Thanks. This is a clip from a much longer presentation. Evidently, we didn't capture her top ten list in the clip. I will say though, she really ends up saying that, while we can list ten jobs, we are all unique and in the final analysis every individual's top ten list will be tailored to their own talents, skills, education, passions, etc coupled with their unique constellation of personal ADHD manifestations. Thats the part of her talk captured here. Rick of RenaFi.com

I didn't get properly diagnosed till 47, Even though my mom was told earn I was in first grade, I had ADD. Being 2E WITH ADHD and no prior treated diagnosis as an adult, males it 4 times as hard to get diagnosed. Throw in RSD and my diagnosis were all over the place. Better late than never, but I imagine what magnet school and college scholarships would have been like. On top of better relationships, more friends, being a better dad, better job stability, no being on disability and those intrusive suicidal ideations. But I made it through and can help my son and others

Yep, we made it through, learned some harsh lessons and can now pass that knowledge & experience forward to smooth out the path for others. Rick of RenaFi.com
