Here’s the first chapter of what I’m writing so u can read it if u want: The soft scents of oak wood and herbs surrounded Elliot as he struggled to open his eyes against the blaring sunlight. He grinned sheepishly as he looked at Adrik, whose worried smile was present even in sleep. Elliot watched him breathing slowly, finding comfort in the steady beat of Adrik’s heart. This sensation reminded him of home. Of snuggling up in the library on cold days, or cataloging new entries while he let Adrik rest after a long day of training. He laid back down on the floor of the loft next to Adrik and waited as he stirred, savoring the moment… perhaps less than he should’ve. Eliot always liked to see Adrik’s reaction to waking up next to him-in this case, practically tangled in his arms. He always seemed a bit surprised at first, but then would run his hand through Elliot’s hair, and maybe plant a kiss on his forehead. Elliot opened his eyes slowly as if just now waking. Adrik jumped a bit and untangled his hand from the mess of black curls that crowned Elliot’s head, awkwardly sticking it at his side instead. Elliot suppressed a laugh as Adrik, who was praying his blush would go unnoticed, cleared his throat. “So,” Adrik said, voice deep with the dryness of sleep, “What are you doing today?” “Probably just restocking, maybe organizing the fae history, Not that there’s much of it to organize anyways.” Elliot yawned, “We got a new shipment of art for the prince’s collection.” Adrik scoffed, rolling his eyes exaggeratedly. “Ah yes, his collection.” They exchanged a look that was far from subtle. Most around the palace had heard tales of the prince’s rather interesting habits when it came to books-and artwork, for that matter. Elliot used the break in the conversation to steal Adrik’s blanket. Adrik sighed rather dramatically, pushing Elliot away. “Careful Adrik, wouldn’t want to push me off,” Elliot chuckled, motioning to the library below. “You know as well as I do that you’d just fly your way back up here,” Adrik said, rolling his eyes slightly, “Though you may ruin your blouse,” Adrik ran his hands along the slightly unbuttoned shirt at that, “And perhaps a few rows of books, if you decided to release those wings in here.” “Well.” Elliot turned his nose up. “Wouldn’t want to damage the books… but I think you like this shirt more than I do to be perfectly honest.” His words earned him a colossal eye roll from his friend. “Well,” Adrik sighed, “I’m off to go train our little princeps.” Elliot snorted at these words, getting to his feet and pulling Adrik up with him. “I’m quite certain that nobody except for the prince would use a term so, uh, respectful..? To describe him.” With that, they both climbed down from the loft, Elliot headed to check for packages, and Adrik headed to the courtyard to find Prince Ronove, with whom he was tasked to train. The clang of blades rang out, sparks flying from their clash. “Your form is improving sir,” Arik said, though it was obvious to him that he could win the fight. While he was not exactly lying, the prince had improved beyond all recognition, Adrik was beginning to think that maybe it was time for a switch in weapon. The weight of the sword he was currently using was unbalanced with his current physique, causing his swings to be erratic rather than controlled... He must’ve finally started to build strength, then. Adrik crouched to avoid one of his opponent's swings. “Though,” he smirked, “I see you could still use some work defending,” He swiveled around Ronove's unguarded legs, “Your neck.” At that point, Adrik had pulled his blade up to the prince’s neck, not close enough to hurt, but near enough that the cold of the steel could be felt by Ronove. “Cunning as always,” Ronove huffed, ducking out of Adrik’s grip, his face flushed. “Not exceptionally difficult when my opponent isn’t paying attention.” “I was paying attention, captain.” “Oh really?” Adrik questioned, falling into step beside the prince. “And I’d thought you’d improved a bit over the last few months. In any case, we’ll have to get you a better sword. I think you’ve at least built enough strength to use something with a little more weight.” “Are you sure?” “Don’t act so surprised,” Adrik replied, monotonously. “I’m surprised you didn’t cut your own arm off with the way you were swinging that.” Though he was egotistical, the prince knew when to stay silent, so the walk continued in relative peace. Elliot had a way of keeping to himself. The patrons of the library always knew they could ask him for help, but they tended to leave him alone. Besides, most of the normal patrons preferred to sit in silence. It suited them. Today, however, was a different matter. There were whispers between the bookcases, stealthy conversations stolen from the silence. Elliot shuddered to think what must have happened to bring so many people, even those who avoided reading like the plague to his doors. It’s not as though there was any particular pattern to what people were reading either, though the history section seemed to be a frequent haunt for many of the suspicious-looking people. At the very least, he mused, I could hardly consider it boring here. He was never one to give in to rumors, but Adrik might like to know, and he was nothing but loyal. Elliot stalked towards the conversations, replacing those novels that had been abandoned as he went. Might as well get this done while I have the time. These poor books… people just can’t seem to take care of you, huh? Honestly how long does it take to put a book back in- “-Just saying that with the prophecy. Maybe it’s time to finally put that boy to use.” His thoughts were interrupted at this, and he inched closer, listening as intently as possible to grasp the conversation. “I doubt the captain… but even so, it seems that’s… and the prophecy…” The librarian came to an immediate halt, cursing under his breath as he almost dropped the books in his hands. This conversation brought something back to him. “... I’m just saying, Ophelia. If this is about him he needs to know.” Elliot hid in the shadows of the hall, straining his ears to hear his parents. “He is a child, love.” He shuddered at his mother’s voice. Her voice was sharper than he’d ever heard. “He’s my son, too. If Rue saw something. If there is a prophecy-” “I said no.” She was always a strong woman, but there was something more in her voice. Something akin to fear. That couldn’t be right, she was supposed to be… Elliot couldn’t even remember the rest of that thought. The conversation was drowned out by his own shaking breaths, and soon the memory faded entirely to black. Elliot felt himself regain consciousness before he saw it. He’d developed a habit at some point. Of perceiving your surroundings while appearing to remain unconscious. It was warm, and there was something soft draped around him. “I can tell you’re awake.” A voice rang out from his left-Adrik’s voice. He breathed a sigh of relief, opening his eyes to give his friend an exasperated look. They were in Adrik’s parlor, a modest room filled with plump couches and, as of now, the scent of stew. Adrik was looking at him with concern. “I found you passed out on the floor of the library,” Adrik explained, and, at the look of panic on Elliot’s face, added “Don’t worry, I put the rest of the books away and dismissed everyone. No one saw you.” “I’ll keep my dignity for a bit longer at least.” Elliot avoided meeting the captain’s eye, instead studying the pattern of the blanket around his shoulders. “You know what I’m going to say.” “Unfortunately.” “You need to talk to someone about this. If not a professional, at least tell me… Please, Elliot.” Elliot looked up, finally bringing himself to look at Adrik. “I can’t, Adrik.” His voice was short, certain, and authoritative, but Adrik knew him well enough to hear the shaky quality. “Okay. I understand, but please.” Adrik’s voice grew desperate. “When you’re ready, talk to me, okay?” The question was left hanging in the air. No conclusion would be reached for some time. Certainly longer than either of them was prepared to accept. :D so they’re from my fantasy world it’s called phoslusea and it’s an lgbt story that has themes of coming of age and government corruption

what's your favourite movie adaptation of a book? mine's probably princess bride. It's not the most faithful but honestly I don't think the medium works for the original story and when you change the medium you've gotta change some things to take full advantage of the new things you're able to do. like they did with hitch-hiker's guide to the galaxy. anywho the princess bride keeps the original vibes and story while adding some pretty cool stuff. though I do miss the stuff about the author 'translating' the book.
