Still remember that and hearing about it on the news. It was just horrific, and it happened just as she started to put a livable life together for herself. And her kids ... My mother, an ER nurse, was pacing back and forth in the living room, and kept saying, "They're still trying to stabilize her?! For goodness sake, why don't they get her to a hospital?!"

I do truly believe that while Charles never loved Diana romantically as his life partner, he did have a love for her as the mother of his children, and by the end, even as a friend. Diana herself said they actually got along better than ever after the divorce was finalized. I’m glad that The Crown, even with all of its creative liberties, depicted Charles as being truly devastated by her death - because he probably really was.
