ON the linked server.. well most of the time the user connecting to linked server is normally locked down to read only access and normally never to a production DB it's always a copy. That is what the main purpose is for a linked server in most cases. So linked server does NOT mean you have full access to the remote server unless the user you are connecting as does. And any good DBA knows this and sets up the remote server and user correctly.

It can totally change depending on your SQL Server version, compatibility level, settings, database, etc. Focus on the overall lesson rather than specific metrics. Hope that helps!
