0:53 In 1968, surely the World Series must have broadcast in color. Question is whether any of the surviving footage is in color.

Very strange . . .Haven’t seen one player go back to the dugout and smash something with his bat.

St Louis scored 3 runs in the first inning. They then scored 2 runs in the next 26 innings. And that's how they lost.

Shame this was letterboxed cutting off the top and bottom of the original broadcast. You can’t see Brock’s foot not touching home plate!

I'm 66 years old and this was the first World Series I watched in entirety. When they got Brock at the plate I knew they just might win. Especially after they threw him out earlier trying to steal.

I saw Kaline climb onto the right field wall and leap off to rob Mantle of a homer...musta caught the ball 13feet above ground level.

McClain could/should have won 33 games during the season. His last two starts (with his arm hurting) he left both games with the Tigers ahead in the fifth inning, but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead in either game. 33-6 ...just look at that.

Maris, who of course used to play in the AL with the Yankees, told his Cardinal teammates that they need to fear Lolich more than the 31 game winning McLain.
@thomaswolf723

Lolich has said he was not properly warmed up before starting the game and that may have led to giving up three runs. He had to delay his warm up because of Jose Feliciano’s long rendition of the National Anthem and when it ended NBC put pressure on MLB to start the game as soon as possible.

Ernie always stood by his choice of Jose for the anthem, and the two were friends until Ernie's passing. Jose's wife is from Michigan, and it was great that the Tigers brought Jose back.

How big was the tag on Brock with his decision not to slide in Game 5? I remember watching it and something went through me that this was big. The Cards crossed home place twice after that out,not a productive way to win a World Series.

My grand dad died just before the series began. His funeral was held on the day of this game. My sister and I went to game four a dreary rainy day and the Cards smoked the Tigers 10-1. When Kaline got the single we were in the funeral procession and had the game on the car radio. We kids whooped it up a bit and my Aunt scolded us for it but my uncle said let them cheer because Grandpa was a big Tiger fan. The WS series win really brought city together just a year after the 67 riot.

I was there, 10 years old and as a tremendous Cardinals fan, couldn't stop crying after the game. This my first WS game and went with my mom, as my dad who had scored the tickets for us had to work. Thought I'd see the Redbirds win their second straight WS that day, as they were up 3-2 going in, and having beaten the Red Sox the year before. The wound up losing 3 in a row to give the Tigers their first championship in 28 years I believe. I just stopped crying 2 weeks ago, thank you very much.

Winning Pitcher Mickey Lolich- one of my boyhood idols. No taller than 6' and usually just over 200 lbs. He was strong as a bull. He should be in the Hall of Fame. Often led the league in strike outs and complete games. He had so many years where he had very poor run support. He lost a lot of games where he gave up 2 or 3 runs. He's also the last pitcher to win 3 complete games in the World Series.

25:26 Joe Schultz did indeed take over the reins of the Pilots in 1969 and then, in 1970, was made famous by Jim Bouton when “Ball Four” was published.
