Hi Chris, I love watching your videos. I am a singer/songwriter and I love that you are into helping indie or undiscovered talent.. how can i take advantage of that? Thank you, brother

I specialize in Tension and Tasking instrumentals. In perpetuity is fine with me. I can always write more cues and the ones I signed away are old anyway. I plan to start writing Indie rock with vocals soon and that might be a different matter.

Hi Chris, I think your advice is great, and I took it to heart last December when I wrote my first Christmas song based on something that happened to me when I was very young. So you can hear me play and sing the song on my youtube channel @ Al Krantz, it’s called “Don’t Cry Little Boy.” What should I be doing with this song? Do you like it? What do you think? I put it all over Facebook last Christmas and everybody responded favorably!

I’ve been entertaining visiting family members this summer. Question: Do you have an example of an original Christmas song that you’re suggesting? Also, do you know of a music library looking for this? I want to write and submit a song.

Hi there, I have been using iTunes for my metadata. I really love that I can add lyrics. Of course there has been many a time that I have been scratching my head while I am trying to put metadata into a wave file and am wondering why it doesn't stick!!

Chris, thanks so much for these pep talks. I am trying hard to learn how to make better recordings. I have written over 400 songs and have recorded maybe 300 of them. Mostly rough demo quality stuff, but you have been encouraging me to keep at it with your nuggets of wisdom. Good luck with getting your studio in shape.

Chris, thank you, these very honest and heartfelt insights really do help motivate me to keep at my musicial path inspite of being so late in the journey. Your ideas do feel right, somewhere there is a mix of each of these insights that we should apply to mix up our own musical gumbo!. This is refreshing advise in a world in which so much music seems driven by efforts to get more spins. It can be a dulling of the authenticity shine on some of it. For me, i have always leaned to trying to make authentic music, which runs right into that challenge of keeping it accessible to others. The point of the music isn't just for me, but is to be shared. So, that is where i have struggled at times, knowing how to find the balance between being true to the music but also making it something others want to share in.

I agree that we're safe from that for now and likely for the foreseeable near and maybe mid, future. However, I think it is probably pragmatic to pay attention to (to the extent possible, which is really challenging and to some degree definitely impossible), wondering how soon it will be before more of our human input will be able to be replaced in a technologically advanced enough manner, to where we as musicians might get more impacted than we would like to believe think would become possible. Just like taxi companies and blockbuster video rental companies and other industries that have disappeared over the years due to technological advances. I'm sure, however, that as some doors close to us, new doors will open as long as we stay aware and are willing to embrace instead of fight against the changes that will become inevitable.

I'm guilty as accused! There are I'm sure 10's of thousands of people who are better than me on every instrument that I play, yet I love trying to play them all myself. I don't think it's ego, though... for me. I think it's that I feel that I understand my vision for my song better than anyone else, and that reason often wins in my mind, over hiring someone better than me. I did that for my first record and I'm very proud of the outcome, but it took forever to produce! So I definitely plan to heed your advice going forward... at least sometimes!!! Great advice once again, Chris!! You're batting 1,000 in my book, with the advice in all of your videos that I've watched so far! Thanks for yet more wisdom!

Every part of this resonated with me Chris! (And I'm sure SO many others). ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥It's Desh from your AOTSP course. I've written about 200 something songs I've been mostly hoarding for years... I guess I always thought when I got signed I would finally put out the different albums I've written since I always had such a clear vision for the artwork, music videos, etc. that I couldn't afford to do on my own. I've played live countless times, been in several bands and recorded a handful of songs here and there but always struggled to find a producer who could understand and deliver the ideas I had in my head. I never stopped writing but I put a pin in chasing my dream for a bit after years of being discouraged and believing I was doing everything I could yet still not having any real form of success I believed I was capable of. Fast forward to learning to "pivot" on my journey, try new things and change course (not completely) but enough to "try something new" when what I had been doing for so long wasn't working. Ironically, it was another creative outlet that got me back into music and now I feel closer than ever. I'm doing all the research I can to be educated, (less green) and "ready" or just more prepared when something happens... getting all my ducks in a row if you will, trying new skills (learning how to use a DAW, Logic Pro), and throwing different things at the wall to see what sticks. I recently taught myself how to play piano (just enough to be able to write my own songs) and in addition to figuring out how to produce my music myself (even if just demos to start) i'm working with a handful of producers and getting closer and closer to finding "my sound" I've had in my head for so long. I think the best thing artists can do is as you said, stay true to their art, stay genuine and just KEEP GOING. Keep making progress, keep trying things, keep learning to skills, keep growing and never quit. Thank you for this inspiring video!! *feeling inspired* ~DESH

Hey Chris. My name is Steve. I am currently in the middle (actually toward the end) of the Gold Artist training at Modern Musician, which has been a great experience... I believe you know them. I'm debating between commiting for another 6 months with them or considering broadening my horizons with a sync course, or possibly both. I have a completed album of songs that I recorded by myself (I played all the instruments and sang all vocals and had someone much better than me mix it) that I am about to start releasing, while promoting myself as an artist using the Modern Musician Street Team platform and techniques that I'm learning from them. I have lived in LA for 35+ years and owned a commercial recording studio here for some time. I am having a little success with my KZfaq channel recently (just got monetized - have 5,000 subscribers and more than 4,000 watch hours in last 365 days) and am doing FB marketing to build my email list, as well as getting referrals from my KZfaq channel. I would love to have a conversation with you if you would be willing... I have watched some of your videos and am refreshingly impressed by your sincerity (and of course your knowledge) and have looked at some of your programs that you have offered in the past. I see that your enrollment is currently closed, but I am assuming it will be opening up again sometime soon. I'm not certain that sync is what I want to do, however I think I would be foolish of me not explore it as a possibility, given that I can and do create quality music at no expense to myself other than mixing, and I consider myself to be a good songwriter and producer. I'd be happy to send you a link to some songs if you are interested in hearing them... they are currently not released to the public. Please email me if you would to let me know if you are open to a chat and/or if you are interested in hearing some of the songs. I think they will impress you... I'm very proud of them. Some are very Pink Floydish or Radioheadish, and others are perhaps a little more along the lines of Cat Stevens or even James Taylor, and some people have compared some to Leonard Cohen and Neil Young and even Bob Dylan. I'm still experimenting with marketing to figure out exactly who my audience is. My email address is [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you, Chris! I love this video, by the way... it got me to send you this message! Cheers... Steve Jacobson😀

Funny but you sound like me. Never released a song though some of my songs are over 30 years old. Now and then I work on them, each time I get a new gadget or new ideas. The songs are now quite a lot. I'll have to release them pretty soon but have no idea how. Guess I'll experiment.
