When I hit the align to path option, it distorts the object, any fix?

How can i make the distance same? The circles i tried to 'run' around the shape are overplapping :/

if they are overlaping, it means the circles are too big. I think you should try make them smaller. In one of the optioons of this tool you can set "specify distance"

Does this only work with shapes that you create or can you do this with a small image? Like if I insert a small image and then want to create copies along a path, will that work?
