@angellopez-rh4pg and @haroon1957 - Sorry I don't show the full details kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o99zaJN-yLbdiac.htmlsi=OEaZv93WAWP2NKvv&t=833. I only needed to change the thinner belt. The other belt can be moved off the flywheel while you make the belt change to the thinner belt. It was quite easy to do. Sorry I didn't quote the dimensions, it is something I am trying to remember to do as I make new videos. From memory I think it was a 4 or 5 cm belt. Removing the flat belt will need more taking apart things no doubt however this belt is unlikely to need changing. From my experience the desk is prone to the auto reverse head getting stuck. Good luck!

At 24:50, dump the hard drive with the free Windows tool HDDRAWCOPY from HDDGURU to a file. If you encounter a hard drive error, you can use the cloned image to restore the data to a new hard drive, and the recorder will work again. On this recorder, I even replaced the junk Maxtor HDDs with a WD1600BB IDE hard drive. Following the steps mentioned above, my identical JVC recorder works perfectly with the new hard drive and boots from it. I discovered that the firmware inside the TSOP48 flash is only for the initialisation of the hardware. Once done, the device will boot from the HDD. While the firmware is not on the HDD, the operating system is, and it also initialises the existence of the operating system on the HDD. If you open up the hard drive with HxD Viewer, you can read on Sector 0 something like "Copyright LSI Logic Inc." That's the main CPU the device uses. Just connect the original IDE HDD to a computer using an IDE-to-USB adapter. In the HDDRAW Copy tool, select the original HDD as the source and another empty hard drive or a file on your desktop as the target. Hit start, and the HDDRAWCOPY tool will perform a sector-to-sector copy of the original hard drive. Important: do not initialise the HDD under Windows Disk Management. Simply connect the IDE drive and proceed with the HDDRAW Copy tool as described.

@Gamersoft1124Pro
@Gamersoft1124Pro Ай бұрын
At 4:36, I dump the original firmware of the JVC drive from the TSOP48 flash (Firmware and Region Code), and then I buy an identical drive and program the TSOP48 flash ROM (dumped .BIN from the Original drive) onto the identical drive. I then solder the TSOP48 flash ROM back to the identical drive PCB. This type of drive has a RENESAS CPU inside it, and the contents of the TSOP48 flash contain, as I mentioned above, the Drive Firmware and the Region Code. If somebody needs the Drive Firmware GDA-4120B, write to me, and I can upload the dumped .BIN file with (Region 2 PAL) from the TSOP48 flash ROM to my G-Drive. Soldering skills for TSOP48 flash might be needed, but if you have a cheap programmer like the Xgecu Pro TL866 II Plus and can solder and desolder TSOP48 flash, then the repair will be a success.

@@AvidRetro Hi, haha, yes, after a lot of trial and error in soldering these kinds of chips, I am now able to solder them without any pad lifting or breaking. I am very confident in doing this, even on expensive hardware. I developed my skills by working with really old and cheap devices, like 2 or 3 Euro set-top boxes that use the same TSOP48 flash chip. And yes, I also have the DVD and the Main Digital PCB (main device firmware) of the VCR-HDD-DVD combo unit from the JVC DR-MX1S. It's also a hobby for me. I buy broken, cheap devices, repair them, and dump the firmware from the hardware's flash ROM to save it on my PC. Then, I erase and program the chips to increase the data retention time and sell the devices as refurbished on eBay.

Recently dug this camera out since back in the 2000s when I first got it. Really nice bit of glass on it, good sensor for the time, and other little foibles are forgiven for the price point. It took some great pics, even in Auto, but the other day I was shooting at sporting event and was disappointed by something in the final output, compression or similar, outdoors with ISO 100. So, have started using it in RAW mode which seems OK and this might give it a new lease of life despite the advances in phone cameras as my phone can't beat the optical zoom. The time/date/memory no longer lasts between battery changes, ah well.
