That's a pretty neat job I have to say sir. Although I thought Aus was full of giant spiders and killer wasps, neither of which I've seen hiding in this attic space! 😂

I’ve just had the FTTP guys out. They wouldn’t do anything. Won’t go on the roof, in the roof. We need to run conduit from one side of the house to the other side. No specs were provided on conduit size. No help was given, they just went away. A great start.

Stop calling it nbn or telstra conduit!! Its communication conduit and the only difference is the multiple OD sizes you can purchase
@jim8395

Hi mate, thanks for your comment. It is NBN conduit as it is made for there specs. Comms conduit is same size dimension as electrical conduit. NBN conduit is different and is labelled and sold as NBN conduit from the wholesaler. I guess it is comms conduit but if everyone calls in NBN conduit including the people making it, I would say it is NBN conduit!

Really informative video. May I please ask if this tool can also terminate the Clipsal S-110 Keystone Jack? I found from TLE that S-110 has the RJ45 Jack and the RJ45 Keystone Jack as well. Can this tool be used for both? I checked your other video for the Krone Jack termination and you used a separate tool for it. Maybe this tool will save me money if I can terminate the either end of the cable using one tool.

Are you crawling on the ceiling joist?? you're lucky you didn't fall through. These steel roofs are a pain as they are not to be walked on. There should have been a sticker near the manhole warning you so. You meant to run planks. Also I wouldn't have bothered with the conduit. I only would have fitted the junction boxes so you can fit the light sockets to it.

Yes I was on the joists, I have never seen a sticker warning about falling through. Steel joists are not as nice as timber but much better for white ants....

How do you pull cables through after the string in conduit?
@zanetaylor8803
@zanetaylor8803 4 ай бұрын
Depending on who’s running cable will either tie jet line (string) certain way with heap of electrical tape or use a hauling sock and still use heap load of duct tape to secure sock on cable and heap to secure jet line to sock.

Nice solution for the excess power without having a big chunk of lithium in the house! What does the AC waveform look like on the rest of the house when the heating element is dimmed? The only concern I'd have with this solution is dirtying up that waveform for the rest of the house, especially any sensitive electronics.

Hello. Will this be automated or manually have to switch when excess power is generated?
@smoothntallGWM
@smoothntallGWM 5 ай бұрын
In THIS video its fully MANUAL switched or set at a percentage of heating for the water heater. The poster says near the end of his video he plans to replace the manual TRIAC "dimmer" circuit with an Arduino circuit controlled by firmware and therefore; making it fully automatic (in the future).

@cam_934
@cam_934 5 ай бұрын
Don't expect the NBN with these FTTP upgrades to locate the NBN NCD to your preferred location as they can be time consuming and expensive, they will likely put it at the most coinvent location for themself. You can arrange to have the correct conduit/bends/amount of bends installed if you want the NBN NCD in some other location.

Any tips for actually finding where the old copper conduit comes to? I've never had ADSL or FTTN at this home (on iiNet HFC, non-NBN). Will all houses have an underground conduit or am I on a wild goose chase? I found an old orange looking oval telstra cap just sitting on the ground, but I can't for the life of me find where it came from.

Usually next to the Power box and your boundary with neighbour whose lead in is close to your side of the house , Mind many suburbs are different

thanks for the response, I worked out it's an aerial lead in for the old phone line. Not sure if NBN will still use aerial or run a new underground line... makes it impossible to plan for. @@Rusty_Gold85

Properties will have either an aerial drop cable that comes in via the power poles, or underground via a lead-in conduit (LIC). A lot of the older inner city suburbs may only have a 10mm LIC as it was the standard 60+ years ago. A lot of LIC’s just go directly under the house and aren’t visible from the outside. The majority will be run to the side of your property, look at your property on either side and the one that you can see will usually mean that yours will be on that side too.

The mugs that ran the conduit for our FTTP didn't glue the conduit for the fibre. It is necessary. Turns out, mice love the taste of fibre sheathing. We found that out during COVID lockdown when the kids and the resident teacher couldn't WFH.

Looking at your measurements, you can also do it this way: Just measure pulses within 30 Sec. In your case, it is 2.033 * 30 = 61 pulses in 30 Sec 1000/800 = 1.25 kh value 61 * 1.25 = 76.23 Wh 3600 / 30 sec * 76.23 = 9147.6 or 9.147kW
