First question should be : am I in the right company. You can plan everything perfectly but if your company doesn't support you, you won't get where you want to go.

Hi Helen, if we have a squiggly career, what is a good way to make sure we are still known for some specific things/brand ourselves? I found many times that people get confused, for example, if one switches industries or roles... 🤓

Thanks for the comment! A great start would be to reframe how you think about your strengths and your personal brand. Here are two episodes and free resources that you might find useful: 1. How to make your strengths show up and stand out: www.amazingif.com/listen/how-to-make-your-strengths-show-up-and-stand-out/ 2. Personal brand: www.amazingif.com/listen/skills-sprint-personal-brand/

Love this! Hello from Canada! I might miss out on an opportunity at work to apply for a promotion since I'm at maternity leave. I've also just been recently promoted a few months ago but received a glowing performance review and my boss did say that I would seriously be considered if I were to apply for the manager role. I'm working on my graduate certificate during my leave as well. Hopefully all the stars line up and they might hold the job for me until I'm back but I won't hold my breath. I like the idea of "progress" instead of fixating on obtaining the promotion though. Love your podcast. It's great to hear business perspectives from women. I'm in a tough spot now because I do appreciate the time off to spend with family but I'm also torn about the things I'm missing at work like opportunities for a manager role.
