The majority of people buy watches to wear them. Unless its your business, watches are generally NOT investments for you...but they are for the dealer that will take the appreciation from you if you sell. Dealer make much more on Rolex, just a fact.

Maybe it's just me, but luxury watches (not just Rolex) and tattoos don't go together. I would never buy anything worth more than $20 from a tattooed person in my life. But I repeat - maybe it's just me.

Talking like paying £1-3k over retail is a bargain! LOL 'No way am I paying more than the _already profiteering_ Rolex charge in the first place...you can do one! Btw I'm buying another house with cash at the moment. Affordability is not an issue...but principle is!

The way forward is gold. Get a pristine unworn from the grey market for a couple of grand under retail. Yeah we all love a boutique experience but most can't get their foot in the door with these Swiss twats. Yesh, I love gooooooooooooooooooooold

My fellow watch nerds, I am reading lots of comments stating that watches are not investments and are to be enjoyed. I agree with you 50%. I can tell you from personal experience that I have made money in buying and selling, but the most important thing to remember is the sentimental investment you are doing for yourself when buying a high-end timepiece. That feeling of putting it on for the first time and even after you have the bracelet adjusted to your size. Just incredible. The feeling of security that if something in life hits you, you can sell it and recover some of the money you've spent and in some cases, even a profit. Watches are wealth. Never forget. Couldn't disagree with you more on the new GMT compared with the Pepsi. Never liked the GMT because most are so loud especially the kiddies Fischer Price Pepsi😂. This new Bruce Wayne is a quiet, classy Rolex for those who don't have insecurity issues trying to give it the big'un.

"Trust me, Go straight to the gray..." 😂 Yeah no thanks, had a really good natural progression of watches from the Rolex Boutique that I actually wanted. Starbucks > Batgirl > Blue Dial Skydweller over a 3 yr time span all at retail. (watches from other brands bought as well but from different dealers). Just repeat visits, fun discussions, and showed up enough wearing what I bought to build confidence I wasn't a watch flipper. To be fair, If you only want a Daytona, Pepsi or a Skydweller and nothing else ever, then you're probably out of luck and he's right...short of being the nephew of the store owner you likely aren't getting any of those without a good spend history and confidence that you aren't going to flip it (they get penalized as a store when something Rolex has distributed to them ends up on the gray market...that typically translates as fewer sports model allocations annually.)

Registered for the new GMT, hopefully get one this year as I've got a very good relationship with my AD. Also love it when you feature the Bluesy, my first watch and the most stunning Rolex you can buy in my opinion.

It is *_NOT_* like "if you've got a car would you leave the engine running all the time?" It's like, "if there's no food in your fridge, do you unplug it so the compressor doesn't get added 'wear and tear' ?" That's a nonsense argument. Once your watch is at to the correct time, is job is to *_KEEP TRACK OF TIME!!!!!_* It cannot do that job if it's constantly stopped running.
