At the beginning you dream. At the scherzo something crushes your lullaby and changes your dream in unpredictable way. At the 3rd movement the dream of the beginning is twisted and you're stuck in it. Forever.

Great rendition of a wonderfully modern yet lyrical solo sonata. There seems like there's a weird glitch in the recording at 11:07 though. The b flat in the third measure of the page has a doorbell sounding harmonic. Strange.

Senza dubbio tra i peggiori compositori del Novecento, privo di talento e di gusto, informe e deforme.

Oh dear, I was rather ignorant of Prokofiev so far, sure, I know and love a lot of his stuff very well (symphony 1, love for 3 oranges suite, peter and the wolf, romeo and juliet and some piano sonatas), but I´ve planned to listen to a lot more of his oeuvre and my word, this piano concerto is so much fun! Also an excellent performance

How about giving credit where credit is due? We get a parenthetical listing of the violinist, and a wall of text with your thoughts about Prokofiev, but no mention anywhere of the orchestra or conductor?

To hear Prokofiev It's need to enjoy to lost in yourself... (So misterious and provocateur his unique style...)

In the end, the precarious struggles throughout the movements hopelessly disintegrate only to provide concrete material for desperation, leaving behind nothing but the frozen wind from the first movement. But I hope there will be salvation.

I very much prefer Richter's version because the mov 1 was slower you can clearly hear the arpeggios. reminded me of that version from the anime nodame cantabile
Not that fond of the orchestra only parts as I find them too long. The recap and the 2nd theme in G in the first movement is goated tho. I'm not a classical music enthusiast but I've always liked Mozart and Chopin piano works as I somehow always imagine myself humming the melodies. It's like they were made to be sung.

The final piece brings the cycle to a very ethereal and satisfying close. The whole set should be listened to as a whole. The pieces are like little entities that fly off in many directions, but they still gravitate towards the home key of a minor.

33:43 the quartal chords make this the single most beautiful moment in the piece. wouldn't be surprised, given rachmaninoff's love of bells, if that was the sound he was going for
