This feeling is just a thought coming from the mind. It's an invitation to believe that this effort is real though it isn’t. It is just thought, thin air, insubstantial - a meaningless frequency appearing in awareness. Your believe that it is real and that it is „you“ (the imagined person) that has to make an effort, is fueling this thought with your divine energy. That's what makes it feel so real. Without your energy, without your believe, it's just thought made out of nothing. Just an invitation. There is an awareness of this thought, this effort, this invitation. There is something that knows this feeling of effort, that is aware of it. It is silently in the background, quiet, effortless and unchanging. And the frequency of the apparent feeling of effort is arising in this awareness.

So could goals be a detriment to effortlessness in the sense that they are personal. Since young there's one or two things I've longed for in the world and always thought of them as being divinely inspired but after watching this I'm wondering if they traps to keep me hooked

You could use the goals to experience the distinction (contrast) between effortless being and the personal mode. First and foremost the goals are not "your" goals. They are just thoughts coming from the mind. They are like a program. You, the real You, awareness or consciousness, don't have goals. You are that which is effortlessly aware of the story of an imagined person apparently having goals. The goals belong to the dream, the movie, the story. There is nothing wrong about having goals. Just be aware that the goals belong to the imagined self and are part of the story that you as awareness are experiencing as this incarnation or bodymind. Through sensing the distinction between the awareness of goals effortlessly arising and subsiding, and the effort of utilizing the mind to think about for example how to achieve the goals, you can sense the lightness of the effortless being, and the tension/contraction and effort of the personal mode.

This was awesome. This is one of the clearest and most concise of David's teachings. Vince's openness, humour and honesty about himself really helped the conversation flow beautifully. There has been impersonal effortless awareness of an excellent conversation!
