It would be nice to see a comparison between the companies, who is selling more and is winning the competition of the city e-bikes (between Ampler, Tenways, Cowboy and VanMoof for example) and the main differences between their bikes.

Look at that stupid heavy tank that will become brittle and require replacement along with all the components that hydrogen destroys in eight years. Wow this video did not age well. Hydrogen, the 30% efficient, super expensive, low power density battery that nobody wanted. I'm guessing all of those bikes are out of production. These companies will only exist as long as the oil companies and governments fund them. All of their products will end up powered by batteries or in the junk yard.

Good point! While the basics of robotic manipulators haven't changed much, there have been significant improvements in precision, adaptability, and tech like AI. It's really cool to see how these advances are influencing industries like hydrogen bikes..

Hydrogen is stupid for anything other than very large power requirements away from grid access; Ships, Aviation, Possibly Agriculture/Off Road. Everything else is better and more safely served by battery.

@@eBikeInspection Thanks for your response. I just ordered a turquoise Portola with the standard battery as I couldn’t see paying 200 bucks for a minimally larger battery. I will mostly putter on my Portola! I wonder if Scwalbe Big Apples would work on the Portola? Currently ride an old Raleigh Shopper with a Big Apple on the back which gives quite good cushioning. May need a better seat too from what I have learned on KZfaq comments. Thanks again!

I suspect this will be an amazing E-bike motor and hope it can be configured for both street and trail use as the 19 mph limit for street use is too slow and therefore dangerous mixing with faster traffic. Pedal assist to 35+ mph seems far more reasonable after owning a Trek Rail doing double duty on and off road,

I've had a Brompton since 2012-I'm on my 2nd one now. There is a saying that goes around the Brompton community. It says that "every time you get on a Brompton, it brings a smile to your face." That is completely true for me. I lead bike tours of light houses here in Maine, USA on my Brompton, and have ridden around Lake Balaton (in Hungary) on my Brommie (150-miles). One of my best consumer purchases ever!

I really like my Brompton. The video deliberately skipped the most interesting parts of the design decisions and focused on finance. The Brompton solved the issue of the risky ride characteristics of a specific folding bike. That bike was briefly shown but the opportunity to look deeper into design and custom engineering was simply overlooked. We are left with a a finance promotion rather than a proper look at the story of the Brompton.

VERY happy with my Radrunner which I've had for about three years now. Have it modded with front rack, a folding plastic crate that I can attach front or rear, more lighting, center console, and mounts for phone and go-pro (acting as a dash cam). The bike is fun, functional and practical. New riders and/or those who've been off bikes for a while need to start very slow and practice a lot! They can get you into trouble very quickly.

Is Velotric Discover 2 the best choice for first time buyers? No Ebike is worth its weight in gold UNLESS it can take you over most hills with ease and at a decent / safe speed. I've looked at numerous Ebikes and found the Discover 2 with its 750watts and its upright riding position to be the best bike for the money. Hopefully local bike shops will start to assemble and repair Ebikes as standard practice.

I bought an old Brompton for its practicality in combination with my car as an extension to it. But I found that certain people developed a cult around it. This is quite catchy, I must say. I came to be shocked by the prices for new ones, which caused me to look at a Brompton in a different way. What I find charming about it is the relative ease to update and improve it. What annoys me is the nerve Brompton have in terms of prices. No wonder Asians have started to produce excellent clones for one third of the price for a Brompton. What I find laughable is the claim and demonstrations on how easily a weight of around 14 kg can be carried around. Pure bullshit.😂

Unfortunately here in the UK, most of the models shown here would exceed the legal limits to be classed as an ebike (or Electically Assisted Pedal Cycle). If the motor exceeds 250 watts and the maximum assisted speed exceeds 15.5 mph then the cycle is defined as a motorcycle and as such is liable to Vehicle Excise Duty, Insurance and must observe the same laws as other motor cycles, i.e. they cannot legally be ridden on cycle paths.
@SocraticMethodGuy
@SocraticMethodGuy 2 ай бұрын
buy a regular bike, put a powerful hub motor kit on it, and give the law the middle finger, what it deserves. every man in the UK ive met never had the will, nevermind the balls, to defy the legalized mafia ie government. will you be the first?
@stephengraham1153
@stephengraham1153 2 ай бұрын
@@SocraticMethodGuy The hatred for cyclists in the UK is strong. The government for the most part just responds to the mob and the mob hates cyclists. The fact that I can pedal faster than the max speed of a UK legal eBike is lost on our lawmakers. Motorists who break the law with regular frequency would be the first to call the cops if I were spotted doing 20 mph on our roads. Penalties include fines, destroying the bike and cancelling our driving permits. Continuous infractions would most likely result in a custodial sentence. But the UK will eventually catch up with the rest of the world. We have after all dispensed with the man with a red flag walking infront of motor vehicles.

I absolutely LOVE my T Line (LIGHT for carrying up stairs to a train for instance), just upgraded to a 12 speed so now I have the lower gears I need. It goes everywhere in my car's trunk/boot w/o hanging on a clumsy rack on the rear of my car, where it would be out in the weather, and begging to stolen from an exterior rack while it rattles and makes noise. I can catch an Uber anytime I need to, for whatever reason, being tired, rain commences, flat, anything. And I get exercise that is so enjoyable. It is a panacea. Thank you Brompton.

Brompton frame worths the effort of purchasing, but we won't take apart the fact of having poor quality components, even in higher configurations, currently top improvements for Brompton are happening in asia-pacific environments, instead of Europe or US, but Brompton isn't up to realize such a enormous true. They're still trying to make fairy tale's based marketing instead of realistic daily appliances for real life, roads and challenges.

I got my Mokwheel Basalt end of last June and absolutely love it! Coming up on 2,500 miles. I've ridden it in snow. It's been kept outside for 11 months without a cover (I live upstairs and 80lbs is a lot 3x a day). Never had a tuneup done aside from myself tightening a few things and greasing the chain. Battery life is good for a bike of that size. I've driven it on the shores of Lake Superior in all kinds of rugged terrain and it's made easy work of anything thrown at it.

Agree I bought T1 also and the Velotric App will not maintain consistent pairing with the bike. I consistently lose data right in the middle of a ride. The bike motor and brakes work well. Also the 70 mile range is highly embellished but I think it can possibly get to 40 miles with a lite rider. The App is the big disappointment. Simply not worth the extra $$$ over the T1 ST version. Velotric is no help as more people are having issues with pairing. I have resorted to my Samsung Galaxy watch and Samsung Health for GPS tracking on my phone and it provides greater detail.

We bought them in NYC, where we rode in street traffic, in Central Park, and up and down the West Side Highway biking and walking path, going from home (uptown) to work (downtown) and back! We're now located in a southern state, in a more typical suburban neighborhood, and we're still riding our Terns here!

I bought my first in 2011, a second one for my partner in 2013, persuaded my sons partner to buy one in 2019, eventually persuaded my son to buy his during early 2023, at the time he complained about my up selling him on model and accessories, three months later he berated me for not convincing earlier to buy one. As he bought it on the ride to work scheme and it paid for itself through savings on TfL fares after six months, he now claims why wouldn't anybody want a free bike? As for ours we have cycled through France and Spain on holiday, been towpath touring up the Grand Union canal and all the day to day miles as well.
