I was tempted to trade in my 2023 4runner limited for a trd ORP and then mod it because its a lot harder to mod a limited and mine is white so im not sure how it would look. This video is making me go back on that temptation and keep my limited. Thank you for the links!

I'm loving your content! I also have a Limited that I'm looking to modify. 95% of my driving will be on-road, so I was hoping to still use x-reas with a very modest front lift. Can you give a little more info on what spacer kit you initially tried, and describe the ride difference before and after the spacer was installed? Thanks!

Great video. I’m also a proud owner of a Limited model. It’s great to see other people modding out their Limited models. You don’t see much of this. Initially I did the same thing when I started modding out my 4Runner. I ran a leveling kit in the front for a quite a while and still ran with the awful XREAS shock setup. Then I went to a suspension lift. I had Fox 2.0 coilovers in the front and ARB medium duty coils installed in the rear. I also had the front UCA’s switched out. I went with some UCA’s made by JBA Off-road. I’m glad I had all of this done. This gave me about a 2-3” lift. This also allowed me to run 33” BFG KO2 All Terrains. The stance looks way better. You’ve also inspired me to do a front bumper cut. That’s a great video also by the way. Sometime in the near future I’ll be doing the cut.

Honestly, good question. I bought my Limited used, completely stock with 60k miles. You can get a much better deal on a used limited because a lot of people don’t like the bumper. Also, I’ve grown to love and actually prefer (for my needs) the full-time 4wd system that’s specific to the limited. 🤘

I could use some real world 4runner advice. My fam is considering nabbing one of these final 5th gens. Narrowed it down to the Offroad Premium, Offroad Premium with KDSS, or the TRDPro. Resale value is meaningful, though we do keep vehicles for the long term. Mostly on-road and light trail performance prioritized. No major offroading or modification intended at this time (perhaps mods in future), but we like to have serious get-out-of-a-jam capability just in case. How would you rate these three options?
@Q9Overland2 ай бұрын
Nice! I’d say the TRD Pro will definitely have the best resale value. Especially being the final and best version of the 5th Gen 4Runner. With that said though, I think the Off-road Premium is the best bang for your buck. I don’t have much experience with the KDSS though so can’t speak too much on that. But if you have the money to spend a little more on the TRD Pro, I’d definitely recommend it as it will hold its value better. But the Off Road premium is nearly just as capable for a bit less. Can’t go wrong either way in my opinion. Hope that helps 👍

Hey man! Yours looks awesome. I got the courage to cut mine a couple months ago after someone cracked the lowest part of the bumper! Only question is: have you solved the wind noise? I get a sorta hollow windy sound now from the front sounds like blowing around the radiator area.
@Q9Overland2 ай бұрын
Hey man - Appreciate it! I had wind noise at first due to the fender liner flopping around at high speed. I ended up zip tying it to the frame and no longer get any wind noise. Does that sound like what you’re experiencing or is it more in the front? I wonder if there’s a piece of plastic that might be catching wind. I removed a couple extra plastic trays by the skid plate.
@johnstamw2 ай бұрын
@@Q9Overland yeah that's the odd thing! it feels like I've trimmed everything tidy and zip tied everything and maybe just getting an echo wind chamber in the opening now? Only thought is maybe that I don't have a skid yet? Just bought a cartrimhome TRD knock off because I don't do any real offroading, so maybe that cuts some of the wind, we'll see!

are those automatic running boards specific for limited models or would they work on the sport or trd models? asking cause I saw one for sale on marketplace but it came out off of a limited and I have the TRD . thanks
@Q9Overland2 ай бұрын
Hmm I imagine they work on other models too but might hang a little too low. The limited and sport have the lower hanging rocker panels so they’re designed to go below that. Most likely fully functional on other models just might look a little too low on the SR5/TRD models if that makes sense.

Just got a 2024 Limited. How does the King 2.5" feel versus stock with X-Reas?
@sha6mm2 ай бұрын
First Mod thing to Buy is Rocksliders IMHO. I went TRD Pro and put on Rocksliders when tires wear out I will put on 275x70 17R and I will be done. The Pro cost a little more but it’s good enough for 99.9% of what needs done and If you don’t think so buy a Jeep with 37’s. For all think you need 285 vs 275 there is only 1/2 inch taller 32.7 vs 32.2 inch’s so with 285 you get 1/4 inch more ground clearance, and a lot worse MPG.

I have a Limited with a 1” spacer leveling kit installed, just to give it an ever so slight boost up from stock. Absolutely no issues whatsoever, on or off road. However, any bigger than that would certainly cause issues where proper suspension lift would be warranted. With that said, the factory is suspension is very robust.

Very cool mod! Any concerns with the wiring being exposed since the fender liner is gone? Thinking of doing the same thing but maybe an inch lower than your cut.
@ziv2liv3 ай бұрын
First, I'm curious, why you opted for limited instead of the TRD Off Road or the Pro? If you do lot of off roading, those seem to be better choices. As for the lift, unless you want to fit it with bigger tires to gain better approach and departure angles, I find it really unnecessary. I drove my 2020 TRD Pro on some very challenging trails with some "big boys" who have 2 and 3" lifts and nothing they could do, I couldn't. In my experience, fit it with excellent armor (Plates and sliders), and you good to go. Lifting a 4Runner changes the angle of the IFS, which accelerates the wear and tear process.
@Q9Overland3 ай бұрын
Totally, agreed. The 4Runners are already plenty capable without a lift. I went with the limited initially because I got a good deal on a used one. But I also ended up falling in love with the AWD system too for the kind of stuff that I do. 🤘

Great idea been staring at mine trying to come up with similar for my 2013 (pre facelift)Limited! I see there are rough "melted edges" with the cutting wheel before sanding and trim was added. What kind of cutting disc did you use and what speed did you find minimized the melting?
