CD resolution is much more than any vinyl record.

I have a listen room, some call it a living room. And not one vinyl record in it. I hate vinyl. I like the covers, not the vinyl. My first CD was 1984, and when I heard it the vail of vinyl went away and the music came thru without all the garbage of vinyl.

Ein Satz wie, wer Erfolg hat, der hat Recht, gilt für so was wie Fussball, aber doch niemals bei High-End. Wer es nicht glaubt, der schaue doch einfach in der Zukunft nach! Also auf der High-End 2025 und 2026. Da zeigt sich welcher Player noch auf dem Spielfeld ist, und in welcher Form.

There is an issue though with sonically perfect contentless music. Id rather hear an incredible song badly recorded than an awful one digitally pristine.

Was es braucht, sind Junge, die wieder anspruchsvolle Musik hören, Musik des Mainstream ist für HighEnd unbrauchbar. Und die Händler müssen aktiver werden und Hörevents organisieren. Weil die meisten Menschen keine Ahnung haben wie ihre Musik tatsächlich klingen könnte! Bei vielen Händlern fühlt man sich aber nur willkommen, wenn man kauft. Wie soll ich da objektiv eine Kaufentscheidung treffen? Für den Händler sind ja nur seine Marken die besten. Wieso nicht Musik hören als Schulfach . 😉

Bei einer LP oder CD bin ich nicht von irgendwelchen Servern abhängig. Einmal zahlen gefällt mir besser als irgendwelche Abos. Abgesehen die vielen Server müssen gekühlt werden und somit sind solche Systeme nicht gerade sehr Umweltfreundlich, Bequemlichkeit für einen hohen Preis. Highend..... für das Handy.... das macht keinen Sinn. Der Mensch hört je älter er wird immer weniger.... die Technik hat da kein ende, dem Menschen sind da grenzen gesetzt. Vieles ist "Geldmacherrei", denn man kann die gleiche Musik jetzt wieder und immer wieder verkaufen erst auf LP dann auf CD und jetzt im streaming!

Ausgenommen Holger Barske schweben die Diskutanten nur auf der Wolke 7 der Realitätsverweigerung. HiFi ist heute nur eines: viel zu teuer um "Nachwuchs" seitens der Käuferschaft zu begeistern. Es ist keine Frage des Marketings, sondern eher der Kaufkraft. Heutzutage muß man sich noch deutlich mehr als in meiner Jugend (welche schon Jahrzehnte lang her ist) überlegen, wofür man sein Geld ausgibt.

Zuerst mal zu der Diskussion, viele leere Plätze - dann viele ich sage mal Profis + die übliche Klientel, jüngere eher Fehlanzeige, die Aufrufzahl schaut auch eher dünn aus. Lösungsansätze konnte ich auch nicht wirklich welche erkennen. Hier in Frankfurt Main wurde ein Ableger des Hauptgeschäftes geschaffen, ein Terminstudio - wo dann auch nicht jeder reinkommt - mit ausschließen ultra Highend - soweit ich das überblicke werden genau diese ständig mehr und dahin versucht die Branche sich zu retten. Holger Barske kann einem ein wenig leid tun, der einzige der Probleme ansprichst wird offenbar nucht erst genommen 😢

I didn't know Tiny Tim was an audiophile. I actually own 4 of his albums and 3 CDs and they are all excellent.

There is a limiting syntax to the sheer format. So probably, it won't get any better than it is now. Which is inferior to any subsequent technology. Also, to bring out the best of vinyl is vastly more expensive than to bring out the best of subsequent formats. It's perfectly legitimate to like the format, the physical form of vinyl, etc. But from my perspective, it's dead technology, just livnig for nostalgic reasons.

Great collaboration between these two geniuses. Ever since I first heard ‘ The Raven ‘ back in ‘76, I became hooked to APP. Not too long after, my first two vinyl purchases were ‘ Tales ‘ and I Robot. About 25 years later, I would discover PT through the song ‘ Dark Matter ‘ and immediately recognized Wilson’s guitar influence from David Gilmour. So it wasn’t long before I was hooked to PT as well. This is a great interview and I’m so glad I caught it.

Die wichtigsten Fragen wurde nicht gestellt: Wieso gibt es kein Qobuz Connect? Zudem werden sehr viele Tracks grottenhaft ins Digitale gemastert. Das klingt, selbst wenn es pseudomäßig nach HiRes upgescalt wurde, absolut indiskutabel. Und das egale ob es von Tidal oder Qobuz kommt. Außerdem: Um Streaming in High End Qualität hören zu können, ist eine Investition in Höhe von ca. >10.000€ erforderlich. Z.B. Streamer: 5000, Switch: 3000, DAC: 3500€. Das ist die Realität und die Unterschiede, die man bei dieser Investition hört, sind nicht esoterisch, sondern im Bereich: vorher gruselig, nachher einigermaßen erträglich.

Who, among the people who were involved in making this video, is the idiot that decided an average YT viewer would appreciate the sight of camera operators constantly getting into the frame? Who is the moron that was given the job of editing the raw footage before the upload who refused to cut out those moments of pointless intrusions? And - finally - who was the genius who decided the interview would be too 'stodgy' if the cameras were mounted on stands, so the nausea-inducing swings & sways of the imagery be eliminated? i think so, as we go forward, new turntables and cartridges become worst and expensier than usual , iremenber thinking "this cartridge is somethin`else but 1/3 of my monthly income, now with 1/10 of the quality i say "wow! not that good and doble my monthly income, i´ve tested a lot of turntables since 2017 and cartridges from several brands mainly Pro-ject and Rega and some signature rotor ones and what the hell is this 1.200€ for a turntable that i had never heard so bad since late 60´s, and a MM cartridge saying high output sounds lower than a good MC cartridge from late 70´s ,shame on you brands that steal from the people, the weaker turntable i bought for me was a mission but how good it sounded i even ended up buying a mission cirus system and had great sound but some productions have lower this or that so sometimes i felt the need of tone controls but old tube amplifiers no matter if there aren´t tone controls they sound good anyway , the sound was diferent maybe more real in the 60´s and 70´s but always expensive

Unless the recording chain is completely analogue and the cutting head has analogue delay ,these guys are trying to playback analogue that most masters are in pcm or dsd and employs digital delay in the cutting head ,mind boggling !

Interessant wäre für mich zu erfahren, wie hoch die echten Herstellkosten, z. B. für Lautsprecher sind. Die Verkaufspreise liegen für manches Paar locker bei mehr als 20.000 Euro. Die Herstellkosten (nicht die Einkaufspreise des Händlers) liegen wahrscheinlich bei max. 2.000 bis 3.000 Euro, wenn überhaupt. Und die Märchen von ständig neuen Entwicklungen mit angeblich tollen technischen Verbessrungen glaubt man doch nicht wirklich. Und dann gibt es noch die Kabelfritzen..... Aber leider haben diese Leute Fürsprecher bei den einschlägigen Fachzeitschriften, sofern man diese so bezeichnen möchte. Letztendlich sind STEREO, STEREOPLAY/AUDIO usw. nichts anderes als Lobbyisten der Hifi-Branche. Mir ist bei denen wissentlich noch nicht ein schlechter Testbericht untergekommen. Stattdessen immer obercoole Formulierungen und Geschwafel über Räumlichkeit, Präsenz, Auflösungsvemögen etc. Von einer Fachzeitschrift erwarte ich konstruktive kritische Berichterstattung (oder Infos z. B. zu Kosten, wie vorher beschrieben), die selbstverständlich auch Lob beinhalten darf. Bekanntlich bringt einen Kritik weiter. In den Magazinen ist das allerdings nicht zu finden. Aber ich sehe ein, dass die Verlage natürlich auch Anzeigen verkaufen wollen. Jeder kann überprüfen, welche Firma wie oft Anzeigen schaltet und wie deren Testberichte ausfallen... Dazu kommt, dass manche Elektronik m. E. unterirdisch designed ist und dadurch viel zu technisch rüberkommt. Bestes Beispiel ist T+A. Design - völlig daneben. Konstruiert von Elektroingenieuren für Elektroingenieure. Viele Schalterchen, Knöpfchen und unnütze VU-Meter o. ä. Oder Akkuphase, Macintosh etc.: groß, schwer, teuer. Knöpfe und Zeiger, die kein Mensch braucht. Die sollten sich mal ein Beispiel an Apple nehmen. Steve Jobs wusste schon, warum er den Chefdesigner in die Unternehmensleitung genommen hat.

The dac technology has far better performance then vinyl playback and much less expensive! I have both.

the ortofon test record was a heck of an eye-opener with its tracks for adjusting the right antiscate.......... get it wrong, and its distortion. the record was a better upgrade vs the next cartr. in the lines og carts.

That video you did on KZfaq with the turntable (i don't remember the name of it) , but I've heard things in the music that shocked me that as compressed as KZfaq is, i still heard it, wow!😮

Why not put the turntable in another room isolated from sound? You would want a remote tonearm lift to drop the needle and then at the end of the side pick it up. No more speaker cartridge feedback. A pain in the butt to change records but cheap and effective.

I admit this is fascinating “Yeah, science Mr White!”. And having worked in the medical field for 38 yrs it makes perfect sense what the gentlemen are speaking of. But… These are elite products that 1% (if that) will ever be able to own. The real positive will be when and if this technology can be brought to the market at even a 20-30K price point.
