Harpo kept "talking" to the audience - breaking the fourth wall. That was not done in those days.

Only Lucille Ball could do this, two comedic geniuses at their best! It's good to laugh at something so classic and funny!!!

The only thing I don’t like about this video is that they left out the coda, where Ricky and Fred come in as Groucho and Chico.

Lucy and Harpo were awesome in this, thanks! The "mirror routine," made famous in The Marx Brothers' Duck Soup (1933), was in fact first performed by Max Linder in Seven Years Bad Luck (1921). It's also very good and maybe my favorite version?

I don't know why it makes me laugh that Lucy is a little taller than Harpo, but it does.

The Marx Brothers Groucho, Chico and Harpo had a comparable scenery, in this case all three were dressed as Groucho.

This is another of my favourite. The mirror image. I dont understand why at the end when lucy tells harpo who sent him up to lucys apartment when ricky should be walking in as groucho & Fred behind ricky as the italian guy. Why they dont show that?

I wonder how many times they had to rehearse this scene to get it right.
@vksasdgaming947210 ай бұрын
Many. Lucille Ball was not funny by nature. She kept rehearsing until her performance was funny.

Was this not done during the era of live television? If so, this has to be the best comic routine ever, performed by two giants in the industry.
