wow so funny to find out the guy who made all these over the top bloody movies I wasn't allowed to watch as a kid was a cardiologist lol you always wonder who are the people who make these movies? you expect them to not be as normal as they are. Roger Corman is another example.

Perchè sono qui ? nostalgia dei tempi in cui i ruoli erano rispettosi nel prossimo, ma con una politica come oggi il prurito alle mani diventa sempre più giustificato, è solo colpa di questi luridi criminali politici che ci hanno privato delle cose belle. Dobbiamo capire che se non cambiamo regime non cambierà mai nulla.

Quando il film è diretto da un genio ed ha un cast di attori eccezionali riesce ancora a far ridere dopo 50 anni ❤

E diciamolo una volta per tutte! Fulci vale quanto (se non di più per mio gusto personale) Hitchcock, Kubrick e Welles. Un genio e innovatore del cinema mondiale sempre sottovalutato dalla stupida e ignorante critica italiana.

Hard to imagine a current filmmaker slagging off his contemporaries the way Carpenter does here. This hasn’t aged well- he was pretty didactic when he made “They Live”.

I think given his age he's just not that bothered anymore. He gets a nice fat cheque for doing nothing and playing video games. He kind of admitted that in interviews over the last 10 years or so

This has really been as thrilling as watching a Kurosawa movie. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way, as I highly enjoy his movies. But his voice is expressed somehow through his direction, and now his voice is expressed through mannerism and speech about the drama of being a commercial artist. Perhaps Oshima-san is correct that Kurosawa-san connects to people with a vibration of sorts.

I had no idea Fulci spoke in this way. As far as I know there were never any interviews with Argento like this. It seems like Fulci was an intellectual with many ideas and opinions that he was glad to share. In any case how do we make sense of the man? He made those interesting giallos Lizard in a Woman's Skin and Don't Torture a Duckling and then in the 1980's it's like he lost his mind. None of his '80's films make any sense and are a bunch of sleazy gorefests. Did Fulci ever say yes I gave up on trying to make good films and just made junk?
