So, if you use an Ai medium, with your own trained prompts and it creates an image, you then take that basic image, extensively rework it in other digital mediums, then again with decades learned skills, turn this image into a gallery level using the best printing techniques and sell this now very unique and completely your image and make money, how is this not art? Just because you didn't physically put paint or pencil to paper, doesn't mean it's not art in its own right.

there are at least two ways the dictionary defines art. one is a skill acquired through practice-like a seasoned bus driver that can seamlessly whip in and out of traffic. the other deals with human expression (ie: saying something or communicating a human emotion). as we’ve said many times, we define art as having something to say. if you create from that place, that feels like art to us. art we want to experience, enjoy, support, etc. do we think AI is capable of creating an expression of the human experience? by definition, no. it can only mimic it, which doesn’t meet our definition of art. it doesn’t make us want to experience or support it for that reason either. if you’re having a nice time on the computer, don’t let us spoil your good time. we only made this video to provide an alternate view / sense of relief to the artists who feel stressed out about competing with ai.

Wow. Probably the most condescending comment and back lash based from an opinion I have ever received. Pretty nasty actually ... you seem to truly believe that your idea of what constitutes art is gospel because of a dictionary! I'm a qualified photographer too, but am open to the opinion that art is anything someone puts the time to create; in whatever form. Still good luck treating people as you do.

So I am am back after a really long time (sorry about that) and glad to see Mango Street is still same and awesome to get me to pick up my camera again. But a quick question, I was an avid photographer and used to take photos every few days, but for some time now, I seem to have lost that intrest and for some reason am never satisfied with the pictures that I take and hardly ever post them or share them now, any suggestion on how to break this mood or rut ? I know a lot of photographers face it.

Ah, that's why they are masked, I really wondered. Sorry for the totally uneducated question: is it though? I live in Europe and I haven't seen a single person anywhere with a mask since more than a year. I think people still might get Covid, but it's kind of normalized now and treated like a common flu

midjourney is an awesome tool for aspiring storytellers and writers who are broke. As a guy who lost countless jobs due to my anxiety and depression, i think midjourney is a nice option to help get me started on my dreams. But believe me, im not one of those people who think doing ai prompts is the same thing as drawing and painting true original art. Ai is a useful tool but it shouldn't be abused and encouraged. More like a last resort. If you have the money to pay an artist, do it. If you honestly dont and have similar issues like i do, midjourney is a path

@thehappygolfers27 күн бұрын
Love your input, but as a photographer, I'm now sure I agree with you that AI cannot be used to make money. I do, and it does not take away from my other types of work. The prompts are more complex than your video makes out, especially depending on the mid-journey version used, the level of your membership, which in turn tells MJ how many characters it can read. Then, of course, there are countless hours upscaling, correcting, formatting, finding the right printing papers, presentation, uploading, marketing and eventually selling. You really should consider this before making a quick video to really sell your business ... which I like by-the-way.
