Thanks! Forgot how to get the light out and expired Senior Railcard works well in place of plastic bag! There is a long-standing problem with water in the lamp on my '09 Matiz that won't go away. Not obvious how this is getting in - will try silicone grease on the rubber rings and see what happens. It's a pity the lamp won't dismantle but guess that a few hours on the garden table in today's sun-shine might dry it out. Cheers!

How did you support the engine when you lowered it and took off the brackets?

did you have to take off all the engine mounts?
@HowToSaveMoneyOnCarRepairs16 күн бұрын
@@samboon3424 No you don't have take of all the Engine Mounts. Just the the Engine Mount that Covers the Timing Belt. You jack up the Engine by putting you jack under the Sump. The Sump on Peugeot and Citroën Vehicles is specially reinforced for this purpose. Buy a Haynes Manual for Peugeot 207, there is plenty of useful information in there..!
@samboon342415 күн бұрын
@@HowToSaveMoneyOnCarRepairs Ah ok thanks for clarifying. I do have the haynes manual but it says 'Do not jack the whole car up from the sump,' but then says in the timing belt section to 'jack the engine up from the sump.' So it contradicts itself. Guessing it just means the engine can be jacked. Did you use a block of wood on top of your jack to support?

It should go all the way in, unless there is dirt on the driveshaft Splines. Also if you have taken off the inboard (Inner) CV Joint then you must make sure (The Spring that is fitted in these CV Joints) is put back. That Spring holds the Driveshaft in Place..on Citroen and Peugeot Cars...!🤔🤔😇😇👍👍

The Camshaft (Sprockets) are secured by Bolts..! Once you remove these bolts, you can slide (The Camshaft Sprockets) off..! If they are a little bit stiff, tap them with a RUBBER HAMMER. A Haynes Repair Manual is a better Reference for all this..! You can Buy Them on Ebay...! 👍👍

Me neither..! These are African Roadside Mechanics, trained from 10 OR 12 Years Old by their Master. Most have been deserted by their Parents and left to fend for themselves. They sleep on their Masters Floor...! They have little or no Schooling, they have been trained by their Master to do it this way. Their techniques you mentioned, will make the Brake Pads wear Prematurely and unevenly. Also make the Brakes unbalanced. The cardboard will perish almost immediately and make the Brake Pads Rattle in the Carrier..! So defiantly not done to Manufactures Specifications. I am guessing they want The Customer to return for additional repairs and pay more Money..! 🤔🤔
