I've got a 4mm cord. How much extra length do I need add to working cords please
@lunacraftsonline
@lunacraftsonline Ай бұрын
Ooo it’s very hard to get the measurements right when using a different sized cord but I like to verge on the side of having too much cord just incase. If it were me I’d probably add on 50-60cm or so onto each working cord (not adding to the filler cords in the middle). Hopefully that would be enough as you’d rather have too much than too little 🤞🏻 It’s up to you if you want to add more just incase, you can always use up the leftover cords for other stuff, I have a playlist called scrap cord projects which shows what you can make using the leftover cords 😊

Hello! I’m adding my last hoop to the bottom and for some reason it won’t go on evenly. The hoop itself is level but it’s making my square knots above look lopsided on one side. Any ideas what’s causing this?
@lunacraftsonline
@lunacraftsonline 2 ай бұрын
If I’m honest I remember mine looked a little lopsided too, not sure if that comes up on the video. Could be due to the tension of the knots being tighter on one side or slightly shorter gaps in between the rows on one side etc. But I do remember thinking mine looked a little lopsided but I think it’s fine once it’s hanging up and has a blanket etc in! I’m sure you’re cat won’t mind either, it’s handmade with love after all 😋

I didn’t use varnish, I find that once o hang the mirror and brush out the fringe it stays put. But you could use some sort of starch fabric spray to make them stay put 😊

Hi Luna, can you help me out? Until you combine the two sides (6:20) I think I get it :) But do you combine the 2 sides with one knot? Or with one double hitch knot, so actually '2 knots'? After that you also use the term '1 knot' which makes me confused how to continue. Thank you in advance, love you channel! Kind regards, Lot (from the Netherlands)

hello! This project is so pretty!! the video is easy to follow and I’m able to understand how the knots work even though this is my first ever attempt at macrame ! Although I think I may have screwed up the measurements… I have one 100cm cord for the loop at the beginning, but when I try to fold it over it can barely touch end to end! In the video the loop looks double the size of mine, was I supposed to double all of the measurements indicated before the instructions? I’m using 4mm cord (its all the nearest craft store carried) and I have six 280cm cords, two 50cm cords and the one 100cm cord I mentioned above. I hope maybe it’s just the one cord I need to cut longer, but I would appreciate any help! Sorry if that was a little hard to understand haha, I’ll still give it my best shot! :D
@lunacraftsonline
@lunacraftsonline 6 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your support! 😊 the measurements you have are correct, you the 100cm cord to create square knots that form the loop. I’m not 100% sure what you been when you mentioned it didn’t touch end to end but if you mean it didn’t reach the end of the 280cm cords then that’s fine it’s not meant to reach those 😊 just need to fold the 100cm cord in half and use the halfway point of that cord to begin creating the square knots around your 280cm cords if that makes sense? Really hope that somehow helps! 😋
@xhuu4178
@xhuu4178 6 ай бұрын
update: I just doubled the entire instruction and it worked perfectly :) I think it was because of the thickness of my cord and my knots were too loose so it used up the cord quickly, but i’ve got the hang of it now and it’s beautiful! thanks!!

Hi, if im using 5 mm cord, should i add length to the cords?
@lunacraftsonline
@lunacraftsonline 6 ай бұрын
Hi, sorry for the late reply! You should probably add extra onto each length as the knots will use up more cord as the mm if thicker ☺️ I don’t know exactly how much you should add on as there’s no formula to work it out but if it were me I’d air on the side of caution and add more because you’d rather have too much cord than not enough!

Would the length of cord be the same if using 3mm?
@lunacraftsonline
@lunacraftsonline 6 ай бұрын
I’d recommend adding more length onto each measurement as the knots you make using 3mm will use up more cord to get the same measurements and dimensions that the cat bed is ☺️ I wouldn’t know exactly how much to add on as there’s no formula for it but maybe 100cm to try and be sure? Or add more if you want to be sure but you might have a lot leftover but it’s better to have that than not enough cord ☺️

@lunacraftsonline
@lunacraftsonline 8 ай бұрын
Aw thank you, that is so sweet! I really want to make more tutorials but work is hectic atm but that’s made my day, thank you! ☺️ If I’m honest I’m not sure, you will have to do a lot more knots using 3mm to get the same length and design of the 5mm cord. So if it were me I’d probably add on 160-200cm just to be sure I have enough, you’d always rather have too much cord than not enough. Obviously you don’t need to add that much length onto the wrapping cords though! Hope that helps you somehow ☺️ let me know how it turns out!

Do you always start with right side with each new knot
@lunacraftsonline
@lunacraftsonline 8 ай бұрын
It’s personal preference whether you start with the right or left cord, because I’m right handed I start with the right cord and that’s the way I teach it and the way that I’ve shown here ☺️ to keep your work looking nice and neat it’s best to pick what side you want to start on and use that side all the time, so I always start with the right cord when creating a new knot 😋 hope that helps!
