I first got tea drunk on a ripe puerh, then an gushu raw puerh, and recently i tried an aged white tea, and they all get me there, but each has subtly different effects; the ripe mellowed me out to the point where it was like microdosing, the raw is energizing but focusing, and the aged white just knocked me on my ass!
@teaangle25 күн бұрын
For sure, I remember first mellowing out on Ripe pu'erh. I thought with it being dark like coffee it'd energise me in the morning, but it ended up having the opposite effect 😅

Good video! I have a cursed trick for Shou Mei tea, sort out the larger leaves and stemps and break them up into pieces (don't crush to powder though), then remix them with the smaller unbroken leaves. It helps provide more body to the earlier infusions at the expense of the later infusions (7+). Your Serenity cake has changed substantially since I bought two by the way, a good pressing

I think the main purpose of that first rinse is to soften the leaves and start the leaves unfurling, meaning a more balanced infusion from there onwards. Not so crucial with white or green teas but I think works great with Oolong teas, especially ball-rolled ones and crucial for teas that have been compressed into cakes like Pu'erh

I bought some pu erh tea out of curiosity and on the second time trying it I entered a state that seemed very similar to being high on weed. I was lightheaded and floaty but also full of euphoria. Now im kinda into tea.
Actually, I find gaiwans to be quite easy and convenient to travel around with because they can pack down quite compactly, you can fit the tea cups inside the gaiwan, whereas I can't really do that with teapots. It depends on your overall setup really
@3705977Ай бұрын
Hello! Tell me, why do you pour a small amount of tea into a tray before pouring it into the first bowl? I noticed this moment not only in you.
@teaangleАй бұрын
That small amount of tea at the beginning tends to be a little lighter since it's the top part of the gaiwan and not in contact with the tea leaves as much. Since the tea cups are small, if we poured that part into the cups, then people would be getting lighter brews and not as much flavour. That being said, if one enjoys their teas a little lighter, then you can pour that part into the cups and the remaining afterwards into the bowl. Of course, you could avoid all of this if you used a fairness cup but, where's the fun in that :p

I really like Formosa (Taiwan) version of it! More tarriness and with the high grades of 🌱🌱🌱leaves you will enjoy distinctive greyishness of tea itself. Can't be wrong to pair🍵 with smoked fat 🐟🐠 or any good smoked /dried meat.
@teaangleАй бұрын
All for that pairing. The smokiness of the tea adds extra punch, whilst still cutting through and balancing the strong flavours of the fish or meat

oh no! I've brewed my Pu Erh tea over 4 minute, do I still get the benefits?
@teaangleАй бұрын
Sure do. Depending on how much leaves you use though, you might get a pretty powerful brew. I often say brewing tea gongfu style, whether it's pu'erh or any other tea isn't better or worse than brewing long steeps in a teapot. It's just a different way of appreciating and drinking tea 😊

I think you are right. If the producers of yellow tea did not sell their tea under the name "yellow", but gave it a standard name, for example green dragon huhu :), then no one would look for anything yellow in it. On the other hand, on the market, tea is already sold under the label yellow, so I would leave it as it is, with the fact that if the given tea did not taste really exceptional, then I would say: this is not yellow tea! There used to be a commercial like this, the guy took a drink of whiskey and said, This ain't Jim Beam! Something like this.
@teaangle2 ай бұрын
Yeah there's no turning back on this and Yellow tea is going to officially remain as a 6th category of tea. Gotta hand it to the originators though - they did try something different, something new (at the time), and it gives producers another lever to play with when producing great and interesting tea

How long do you steep Green Goddess for and at what temperature?
@teaangle2 ай бұрын
If using a standard kind of teapot, I'd steep it for around 2mins at a water temp of around 93ºC. It sounds pretty specific but sometimes I find that 90ºC is too little and at 95ºC, it starts to make the tea a little dry
@heypbolon19412 ай бұрын

@teaangle2 ай бұрын
@@heypbolon1941 same temperature, but each steep can be around 10secs or so. You may need to rinse 2 times or so before you really start getting the flavours out as it takes a little bit longer for the leaves to unfurl since they're rolled into balls

For sure. I think they're related in that it's different ways of explaining the same thing.
