$10,000 deductible with $850 monthly premium on Marketplace = nope. Switched to Catastrophic (now called short term), same deductible though, but $350 monthly is fine. No need for "essential" services.

What about the obesity problem in America? Medicare will not cover any weight loss medications and that is so sad. Obesity is a disease! I am currently on a weight loss journey and am responding well on zepbound(tirzepatide) by Eli Lilly. I about dropped to the floor as to the cost of 1036.00 per month for 4 weekly injections. I’m on SSD. My health is at risk. So thousands of people like me are forced to use establishments who use compounded versions at less than half the price. I’ve lost 48lbs since April ‘24. My A1C is down, my osteoarthritis doesn’t not hurt nearly as much. My bp is down. My mental health has improved. So many great things happening! But if I opted for bariatric surgery I probably would have been approved back when I was 48 lbs heavier. I don’t understand. Why is surgery approved but a simple weekly injection not covered. I read Medicare part D is still back in the 90s when Phen phen was introduced and caused major heart issues and or death. They considered wt loss to be “cosmetic”. When will they finally understand people with obese issues need help and are dying or really sick. Thank god at the age 65 and and struggling with weight all my adult life I have someone dear to me sponsoring my weight loss compounded medication. If I didn’t have that support I either would be on that spiral and continued wt gain or had the sleeve surgery by now. I don’t know about any one else but I rather give myself an injection than going into the ER. I’ve been much healthier and feel better both mentally and physically. I’ve been through denials and denials. How to appeal? Is it worth it? I’m venting and very upset with the system. Thank you for listening! I’m in a quandary. As all the other obese human beings.

I'm so sorry. They are expanding the program next year, but obviously that doesn't help you right now. If you don't have a broker, I would highly suggest working with one during the AEP so that you can compare drug prices on different plans. Also, look into State Pharmaceutical Programs and Pharmaceutical Assistance Programs. Sometimes prescriptions can be cheaper with one of those cards or programs. If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 888-410-0344. We'll do our best to help as much as possible.

Wonder if the specialized drug called Zeposia will be covered...?
@iHealthBrokers
@iHealthBrokers 6 күн бұрын
Unfortunately it doesn't look like that one is one the list for 2025. They'll be expanding the program in 2026, but we're not certain what drugs the expanded program will cover. www.medicare.gov/about-us/prescription-drug-law When you make an appointment during the AEP, have your broker compare plans using that drug so you can compare costs. If it's still very expensive, take a look to see if that particular drug offers any type of pharmaceutical assistance programs (some of the more expensive ones do based on your income). And no matter what, with the lower catastrophic coverage threshold in 2025, there still should be some improvement there. If you have any questions you can reach us at 888-410-0344. We know the system isn't perfect and prescriptions can be so expensive. So, if you need help, please feel free to reach out.

Very informative. I’m eligible for COBRA, is that a better option than marketplace? Assume you can’t get PTC on Cobra vs marketplace?
@iHealthBrokers
@iHealthBrokers 12 күн бұрын
Usually not. With COBRA you can expect your premium to (at least) double what you were paying when you were employed. I'd be surprised if you are ineligible for any premium tax credits unless you have another major source of income. So, a few things to take into consideration 1) Are you certain you are ineligible for a premium tax credit through your (now decreased) income? 2) Are you currently undergoing any medical care that makes keeping your current plan a necessity 3) How long will you likely need coverage? Could Short term medical be an option. Feel free to give us a call so we can look at all of the options if you'd like 888-410-0344 Great question!

Yes. For this individual since group health insurance through their employer is not available a marketplace plan would be best. Please call our office with a list of doctors, hospitals, medications, etc... We may also want to look into additional forms of insurance possibly to supplement their specific needs (i.e. hospital indemnity plan, critical illness, etc...). Even though this is a young person, given their medical history, erring on the side of the caution would likely be best. Please feel free to call to discuss at 888-410-0344. They're eligible for these food cards and utility cards that the government gives. There's no such thing as that nobody is doing that. It's a lie. That's all a scam, it's a scam to get your information. Yes, and you just never get anything else, cause everybody that I have ever talked to, that's medicare parts a in parts b they don't get any of this stuff. Our government don't do anything for its people, why would you believe that they would give you a card? That has like $300050004000 on it to pay for your. Your uh, utilities, food and all this stuff. United States don't give a d*** about their people. And they're not giving you those cards. So when you see these ads commercials, whatever pay no attention, because it's all scam

Someone told me I should not do that since I receive APTC thru Cover California. The APTC will stop on June. I tried to get the confirmation from Cover California and they advice me to talk to my CPA. Then my CPA does not run into this issue yet. So she does not know. Oh, I sympathize so much! You need a dental plan with no waiting period and a high plan limit. Some dentists may even allow you to submit a primary and secondary dental plan.
