humble suggestion: Try putting mylar under the tarp (inside of the shelter) to reflect even more heat. Great video and you got a wonderful dog!

I KNOW that Silky makes amazing saws; I have absolutely no doubt. Their reputation, with the guys who use them, is indisputable. Despite that, my Laplanders have served me SO WELL throughout the years that I just can't write them off. To be honest, I don't think that you could go wrong with EITHER.

If your blade is chipping so badly you have to replace then it's fucking garbage, period. I have had hundreds of knives, machetes, hatchets, tomahawks, kukris, etc. I have only had a maybe 2 or 3 that I damaged so badly I had to throw them away. If you've managed to destroy 2 of the Skramas then they are steaming shit. There's something seriously wrong with the heat treatment if you're having that problem. It's NOT normal.

18 ounces isn't nearly heavy enough for a chopper. Silky wins easily.

Why don't they just add more padding on the straps? It's the only con I hear people bring up.. there has to be a reason.

I can't decide whether to get the Keikka duffle bag with straps, or the backpack. I love the camo but don't want to stand out, as im going to be using the pack for travel and EDC as well. Savotta makes very nice stuff!

The roof is too shallow (won't shed water) and the roof poles need to extend to the ground for protection from wind. Also, you have it covered in evergreen needles which don't do much for water at all. You'd be better off with evergreen boughs, thatched from the bottom-up (its an art!). Your bed should be just below knee height so the knees are at 90-degrees; this not only provides a much better sitting position, but allows the heat from the fire to go under the sleeing platform. Line the inside of the roof with a reflective survival blanket to reflect yet more heat towards your back as you sleep. It should extend down past the back of the bed platform almost to the ground (lower than the bed at least) and up above you as high as possible. This will also protect you from any moisture that get through the roof. Your fire is too far away from the front edge of the shelter; it should be one healthy pace away to provide enough heat. Your fire is too small, it needs to be a long fire, especially at night - as long as your shelter. Likewise your reflector needs to be as long as your shelter. Also, your reflector logs need to be much thicker to create thermal mass and properly re-emitt heat back towards the shelter and draw smoke away from it. I dont see a green log across the front of your sleeping platform on the ground to stop the fire from creeping underneath. Apart from that, you nailed it!

Die Flexibilität der Bahco Klinge geht zu lasten der Härte der Schneidezähne, man kann nicht beides haben. Man kann aber die Bhaco und die Silky dabei haben, im Busch, dann passt es wieder. ergo - alles kein Problem.

Finally, a YT bushcrafter who talks sense when camping in bear country. (eat lunch well away from the final camp spot, wash dishes and cookware before proceeding to the final destination etc.) I've watched a ton of YT bushcraft videos from folks who live in areas where there are no apex predators and often marvel at their fairly loose wildlife management skills, but I guess again if one is camping in regions where there are no apex predators, then it does make sense to no worry about them. Unfortunately, I live and camp in wild regions where bears, coyotes, and wolves (not to mention moose) are out there as well, so food storage, camp cleanliness, and cooking operations (even going relieving oneself) should always be planned out and executed knowing that those big predators are out there. Good video...hope the doggo was not seriously hurt.

Good tent but I don't like the multiple tubes for the chimney stove - they take up too much room. You can avoid cutting your hands with the roll up chimney by wearing gloves (gloves do not take up much room)

I rock out the Katanaboy 650 for all my bushcraft work, one handed, two handed, doesnt matter, still an incredible saw. I'm a firm believer in carrying a tool that can do all work from felling to limbing while maintaining conservation of energy.
