for the lead cover you could pour lead on top of cold lead jigs that are painted and it will reduce processing time because it will be contoured to the rounded jig head. Would be worth a try...

Great video! I tried to find the product on Hagens website and I'm not able to locate it. Are they still selling it if so by chance do you have a product number or the exact name I should search for?

Using 1/4 oz mold and 1 coat of cg paint and 1 coat of cg clear coat. Tried mustad black nickel #1 and they would not float. Each hook weighed 6.5 grams so I went with eagle claw size 1 and 1/0, they weigh 4.5-5 grams and my jigs still won’t float. Any ideas?

thanks for taking the time and making the effort to put out this video. I learned a lot. I've been looking for a floating jig head that will float a couple of salmon eggs or a red worm into the strike zone for trout, so I need a smaller hook. In your opinion, would a #6 hook, in that mold have enough hook reveal to be effective? thanks
@nathancallan9376
@nathancallan9376 2 жыл бұрын
I've been having the same issue, they are very effective for trout when used with crawlers or salmon eggs, but all the hooks are size 2 or 1/0 because they're designed for larger fish like walleye. I usually use #6 baitholder hooks for fishing crawlers so a #6 is probably ideal. I lost a bunch of crawlers this morning fishing for stocked trout using this method mainly cause I think they're mouths were too small to eat the #2 hook. Soon as I switched to powerbait on a #8 circle hook so that it could be a bit more easily taken, I wacked like a dozen. Hopefully using a #6 hook on this will work for us trout anglers. good luck 👍

great video .... if you want to try something ... add some opaque white to your pink and try that (play around with the amount and consist ) ... normally in airbrushing that is what we do to get away with one coat ... if you try it ......please let me know what you think .... thanks for teaching us this.... :)

If you mean, "will the acrylic paint come off while fishing?", it won't come off while fishing if you clear coat the jig heads after dipping them in acrylic paint.

Loved the video. Got a question. I think your drying machine is great but can you make paint and dry? I guess what I mean. Can you make a paint trough below so that they will spin then pass through it. You remove the trough let dry and repeat with gloss? Just an idea.

all joking aside, these floaters he is showing you how to make are superior to any of the crap jigs that any of the local guys and businesses sell. Difference is in the quality of the hooks and size. Most of the ones being sold now are a cheaper, smaller hook

Yes that is the mold that I use. The one is 7 cavities of the 1/4 ounce, and 8 cavities of the 1/8 ounce. Best deal on molds is either Janns Netcraft or Maumee bait and tackle. They both have the molds for about 35 bucks a piece.

@raymondsmith3279 7 жыл бұрын
I made the rack myself. I use to just hand the jigs but then you have a drip that you have to wipe off with a paper towel. I got the idea from watching how people dry their crank baits. All I did was bought a rotisserie at menards and used a dado cut on the 2x4's just big enough for the rod to go through. Two 16" circle boards on the ends and pvc elbows to hold the sticks and you have it.
