Love Tool. Will always love Tool. My only critique is that their guitar section is quite unremarkable, but that is to be expected coming from a rhythm oriented band.\m/
@sophomoreslumpmusicandvideoАй бұрын
Yeah, they've definitely always been about the drums, bass & vocals. I quite like his attitude towards guitar though. Most guitarists like to be the main feature, but he just sees himself as part of the whole. Although that talkbox/guitar solo in Jambi is always a standout moment.
@Lycurgus1982Ай бұрын
@@sophomoreslumpmusicandvideo yeah, Adam has his own thing and that is cool. Oh, man.. when undertow dropped the first thing that stood out and grabbed me by the ear was Paul D'Amour's bass tone. @@Lycurgus1982 Fuck yeah. Paul was a beast with that dirty Rick tone and was a great stage presence too. Having seen them at Brixton and Hammersmith in the 00’s, I can’t bring myself to do an arena show but have to admit that the visuals are better but I would still prefer to see them in a smaller venue.
@sophomoreslumpmusicandvideoАй бұрын
I've seen them three times in arenas now. First time was 10,000 Days on their second round of dates. That was really good, amazing set and seeing them do Wings For Marie / 10,000 Days with lasers all over the place was tremendous. Second Time was first round of FI Dates. That was good but I was seriously considering not going again because of atmosphere and cost. This year I resigned myself to saying goodbye to Tool live shows and then they put on an amazing show and pulled out songs like Sweat and Flood. But I agree with you that small shows are better. I'm just glad I got to see them a few times in small venues in the early 90s. No fancy light shows but Maynard and Paul were brilliant to watch close up in those days.

Great way to start your concert experiences. Glad you enjoyed it so much. They were on fire last night. My advice as an old sod is try and get to as many concerts as you can at the smaller venues.
