Bogart never played Sam Spade on the radio in the series. He only did two radio productions as Sam Spade: a 1943 Screen Guild Theater production and a 1946 Academy Award Theater production. Howard Duff did the first 63 episodes on the radio.

Thank you for this great Grab Bag. I like just tuning in, turning off the lights and pretending I'm some where in the late 1930s or early 1940s. The commercials make the pretend even more real.

I recognized June Allison's voice as soon as I heard it. I was wondering if they would mention her in the credits. Her voice is very distinctive. Thanks for posting. Also, June Allison was married to Dick Powell at the time and tho I don't know specifically when this was recorded, they had a baby in 1950 so she may have been referring to this pregnancy in the episode. They also adopted a baby prior to this thru an agency in Tennessee. It was facilitated by Georgia Tann who was later determined have been dealing in black market babies that she kidnapped from poor families. A local judge, for a kickback, rubber stamped the adoptions. A really evil pair.

Dehner also enjoyed building chain link fencing🤣. He has such a memorable voice. I can recognize him in a few words. The best way to say Merry Christmas, A carton of Cigarettes. LOL

I absolutely love Dick Powell as Richard Diamond. I'm not a big fan of his singing, though. Am I the only one?

So far i have been listening to radio shows with which i am familiar but i had never heard of this show before. I am really enjoying it. Thanks for posting. I am old enough to remember radio shows. We didn't have a tv til i was 12 or 13 and radio was the only entertainment we had. And the early tv didn't have 24 hour programming. Until daytime soaps, the programs were evenings only as i remember. I could be wrong. It was a long time ago and tv was a novelty to us. Reading was my main entertainment.
