While I do agree Ford hasn’t paid enough attention to Lincoln with a government mandate to EV’s taking valuable resources away from other priorities. Jim Farley finally realized Ford would face bankruptcy if they continued on the EV path. I think if you take a look at the Lincoln SUV lineup now plus future plans, the are making good vehicles. I’m now on my second Aviator and since I had no issues whatsoever with my 2021, I leased a 2023. It’s one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Dealer experience both times was excellent. They are on the right track.

A lot of financial analysts in the wonder why Lincoln is in trouble it's very simple for this is the very reason why Buick and Chrysler are in trouble and much of the big three Detroit brands GM Ford in Chrysler or stellantis The problem is very simple BRAND IDENTITY AND PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF BRAND IDENTITY. There are NO Cars such as the Continentals Town Cars or the mark series that brings back to Elegance and excellence that Lincoln once had The 1941 Lincoln, the 1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II the 1961 Continental the 1968 Continental Mark III Lincoln these were iconic vehicles that Lincoln was once famous for Chrysler ,GM and Ford generic vehicles dad are basically expensive versions of their low-buck brands. SUVs and Crossovers or damn trucks DO NOT make a luxury brand good dependable elegant cars do. Lincoln needs to go back to being Lincoln, same with Cadillac and the same with Chrysler and other divisional American brands.

I currently own three of the last generation Town Cars. a 03 Cartier, a 04 Ultimate, & a 2008 Signature "L". I love them all and I have no idea what I'll do when it is time to replace them. Perhaps just buy more Town Cars. I live in Florida where they are rust free and easy to find.

Ford was criminal in killing the Panther platform. The Town Car was superior as a black car to all their current SUVs. Genesis and Lexus were all “Thank you very much”, and now own a large chunk of the luxury sedan market.

The Lincoln dealership in my city just lost its license and closed. It had been around for many decades. I don't really know the significance of that, if any, but what the heck? How does that happen within the structure of an established automaker?

Cadillac gained popularity due to its performance V series of vehicles. Lincoln would be on peoples radar if they did the same with their existing parts bin. A performance focused Coyote/ Predator powered Aviator/ Navigator would bring more attention to the brand.

Axing all sedans, particularly the Town Car. People still want nice, flashy sedans, and now they almost all have to go to foreign brands to buy them. Lincoln missed a golden opportunity to base a new Continental or Town Car off of a stretched Mustang platform, which would have been grand; not everyone wants yet another SUV/crossover.

Lincoln needs to throw a "Hail Mary" or they will not survive. They need to create excitement and the rumored 4-door Mustang platform is just the ticket! Don't make it a Ford, make it a Lincoln. Make the body a super-sleek 4-door, 4 seater, full center console, suicide doors, shooting brake wagon. Make it only $10K more than related Mustang models. Think of a mix of Jaguar, Porsche Panamera, 70's Lamborghini Espada, and Volvo 1800ES on a stretch Mustang platform. Name it the Cougar. I think a 4-door sporty Cougar would cross all generations with lust. If Lincoln fails, roll key Lincoln models into Ford dealerships and close Lincoln dealerships. What is never discussed, what if Ford had rolled out Edsel inside Ford dealers instead of stand alone dealerships? I think Edsel models would still be a part of Ford today. Best of luck to Ford & Lincoln. Rene in Brighton, Michigan USA

My wife and I have a 2019 MKC and we don't really care much for it... To be fair the car hasn't been terrible if a bit mediocre, but the scummy dealership annoyed us early on, and you can sometimes see Ford pulling the strings behind the scenes as well. Overall owning a Lincoln hasn't been a great experience for us, and it's soured us on ever owning another Ford regardless of the name on the sign, so we will be moving on to something else in the near future.

I work at a Lincoln dealership, so I know something about the company. I agree with your assesment of their current vehicles, they have 4 bland SUVs and if you don't want a bland SUV they have nothing for you. The '24 Nautilus looks really sharp, but they have a lot of problems, and a lot of recalls. We've had some back in the shop with only a couple of hundred miles on them. I wouldn't buy one for at least a year, we've had several customers who when they find out they are made in China won't buy one. I don't understand why you dissed the last Continental for being front wheel drive, every week we have customers coming in wishing they could buy a new one. They are comfortable, fast, luxurious cars and if you got the optional engine can burn rubber in first and second gear! I live in Florida so the demographics are skewed, but 90 per cent of our customers are old, Lincoln has been an old person's car for a long time, so they need to build a comfortable, cushy car that can go long distances at high speed in silence and supreme comfort with easy to understand tech. We have customers coming back almost every day because they can't work the controls because they are buried 3 functions deep in a menu on a screen-----looking at you HVAC controls. Even BMW is going back to knobs!

Thanks for your insight. To clarify, I don’t have a problem with the most recent Continental. Great car. It’s just that building it on a FWD platform deprived it of the presence it needed to make a real statement. - KC

Ford is global brand, right? But their sub-brands aren't, right? Who of Ford's board of directors desn't understand what means "diversification"? Look at Volkswagen group, which brands they keep and how sorted out are for each continent, market and its segments... You can't make meal out of the same ingrediences everywhere expecting everybody is gonna like it around the world..... Even f#### McDonalds changes menu depending on each part of the world....Ford's Mustang can not be the only horse bearing whole corporate burden of a global product....

1958 to 1960 Lincolns were unitized construction, as was the 1958 Thunderbird. Continental was a division for only 1956 and 1957 when it produced the Continental Mark II. 1961 Continental was actually based upon a proposal for the Thunderbird that was stretched to 4 doors.

I'm an expat now living Down Under, but always have had a very soft spot for Continental; I owned two before moving down here 43 years ago. I was aware, a few years back, of Lincoln producing a stunning car, in limited numbers, featuring suicide doors. Had I still been living in Canada, I would definitely have purchased one; I think it was probably the most beautiful North American produced sedan since the 1961 Continental. I would buy one today if it was available, and I say that as a Mercedes-Benz E-class owner. For the life of me, I cannot deduce why Ford discontinued that stunning Continental

You made some good points, but there is one MAJOR problem, and its very VERY un-PC. Lincoln, around 2011 (cough cough, the St Thomas shutting down) decided to focus on female buyers almost exclusively. The truth is, that the big sedan was a male oriented car. I wont go into all of it (since I want to do a video of my own, that will get 200 views lol) but the marketing was pure female. The drive train doesnt matter as much in this case. What matters is newness. But men are at an all time low in salaries and even attitudes change. Guys dont care about impressing a woman (look up drizzle drizzle thing). Its big, and panic inducing for luxury and sports car makers (as well as demographic people in govt lol). So you would need to have a truly impressive car, that caters purely towards the man that wants the car for himself. Just himself, and thats where you end up with a sports car. Why have 6 seats, if youre a solo playboy? Like it or not, the big sedan is likely gone forever, or at least for however long the US lasts. Im a big Continental fan. Have had them all my life, and still have two Continentals, two other Panthers and looking at another one to buy now. Ive worked on them, and even have the most detailed writups for repairs, how-tos on a forum I cant seem to name on YT (dont know why, its just a car forum). I still get calls from all over the country to get Continentals sorted out, so I can safely say, I love these cars. But, even I went to Challengers after 2011. There is nothing male left in Lincoln now. SUVs have always been a female preference, from wifes to mothers that always say "what if I want to buy a credenza or chipendale froma garage sale" yet never do, or have a guy with a truck come help (also, protip, if you own a van, God help you, keep that secret or every weekened you will help family and friends move crap!) I said this before, if Lincoln wants to surive, it better stop worrying about breaking sales records. Make a rwd V8 sedan, that at least is on par with comfort with a Town Car, offer it with the tufted leather or velour seats. Also offer a Mustang based Mark X. Make it longer, floatier, but high top speed (like it used to be. Continentals were always faster than any Mustang up until the 90s) and load them up with options. Tech, that is NOT software based. We love options, gizmos, with tactile sensations. Switches and buttons. Its why Challengers and Chargers sold like hot cakes. If Chrysler had made an Imperial with a Hellcat engine. Can you imagine that... Anyway. I saw your other videos, and you seem more inclined to reason, and at least dont ignore certain issues.

Ford does not know how to build cars. The Fiesta Focus were great cars that couldn’t make the transition to America without tons of problems. That automatic in both those cars killed those brands. It was terrible. I had two Fiesta stick shifts, the last 2016. Both were breaking down with major problems at about 60,000 miles. In 2019, I got smart and got a Honda Fit; 90,000 miles, no breakdowns, just maintenance. Ford killed its car market with poor quality and gave it to the Japanese and Koreans.

FYI : As the story goes, Mary Kay Ash herself arrived at a Lincoln dealership in the late 1960s and asked them to create a custom car to help promote her burgeoning business. “The guy in so many words said, ‘Little lady, go home and get your husband. And when you come back, we’ll get you into that Lincoln,’ Ash turned to a different dealer-a Cadillac dealer-instead. And when she whipped out a compact and asked them to take a cue from the color of blush inside, they didn’t bat an eyelash. Ash’s custom job matched their archived “Mountain Laurel” tone they did and the rest is history

I really liked the continental that they recently axed. I was really considering buying one. I've always liked continentals. I'm sick of crossovers and suvs being considered luxury vehicles. An awesome coupe and sedan is luxury to me. I'm tired of the whole market being flooded with egg shape crossovers that all look the same and extremely overpriced.

Lincoln has so many brand problems: -Perception of being an old person's brand. Its American equivalent Cadillac has this to an extent as well but they make high performance Blackwing versions of their cars (with available manuals) and the Escalade to help the brand appeal to a younger demographic of buyers. I guess Lincoln's way to try to reach younger buyers is tech, but literally every brand has that. -Speaking of cars, Lincoln has none of them only SUV's. I understand SUV's and crossovers are a huge part of the automotive market now but it's insanely crowded with tons of excellent options. It's difficult to stand out and compete. -They're too expensive for what they are. Even non-car people know they're just slightly fancier Fords for a ton more money, the value proposition isn't there. For not too much more you can hop into a similar Benz or BMW that's way nicer. -Even if you want to argue the Benz or BMW would depreciate a ton, so do Lincolns. I bought an off-lease 2015 MKZ in late 2017 that stickered new in the mid 40's with 13K miles for...$22K. Granted had some exterior cosmetic issues but a 50% drop in value in 3 years with that few of miles is insane. Might as well get the Benz or BMW if you're going to take that kind of depreciation hit. Or spend similar money on a new Lexus and don't worry about the depreciation as much. I have no idea how they can fix themselves, I'm not an auto executive but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't make it to 2030.

Pickups and SUVs are fine (I have 3 and 2) ... BUT, they need to build some CARS ... I and most people want/need those too. I love my 3 beautiful Lincolns ... 1974 Mark IV that I bought for my Mother in 1979, my 1978 Mark V, and a 1997 Towncar. I'd buy a new Lincoln automobile tomorrow if they made one.
