First of all, I have wanted to find a tutorial that helped me paint the Southern Utah cliffs. This. Is. It. Secondly, I do have one concern about your technique. Given, I’ve only been watercolor painting for just under two years, but I nearly always add “texture” to the bottom right hand corner. Why don’t you ever rest your hand on the wet paint in that corner? I find it also adds a conversation topic for a few hours after I paint. “Oh, this color on my hand? Didn’t you know I am now an artist? Of course I do this on purpose! It’s kind of like my signature!” You’re welcome.

Thank you so much! I'm glad this is the tutorial you were searching for. I love Utah landscapes! And haha that is a good conversation starter and a signature artist look with paint on the hand. I love that!

Quick heads up on pronunciation of your cadmium colours. It’s actually CAD-ME-UM. If that helps. It looks like you have a lot of fun paintings to follow along to, I look forward to watching what you bring to the table.

I just found your channel and so happy I did. I really appreciate the detail you give in your instructions on how to paint. I haven't touched my water colors in over 10 years. Your video inspired me so much that I dug out my old paints which were a mix of Windsor Newton tubes and a tray with pan water colors. The tubes were rock hard, lol but I will give it a try with the old cakes and then replenish with additional new ones from your 24 piece palette suggestion. Can't wait to catch up on your other videos. Thank you again.

Wow! this is lovely! Thank you for such a great tutorial! I will try my best to take instruction! I would like to ask: please make a painting of a mesa, similar to the mesa on your Grand Canyon painting. But 1 or 2 mesa’s, not a whole bunch. You have 2 or 3 paintings that have canyon walls, but I would like to paint a free standing mesa. I tried on my own, but it was a muddled mess, lol! I have been doing watercolor for 8 months :). You are one of my inspirations! And you do plein air also! That is my goal!

Of course! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the tutorial suggestion! I will definitely add the Mesa tutorial idea to my tutorials to film! Thank you so much. 😊

If you want to know about pronouncing paint names, or any word, just type in the name and write 'pronounce correctly, in KZfaq search (like I do). For instance , the a after the c in cadmium has the short vowel sound. The a does not say its own name. Rhyme cad with rad or mad . I Love the video very much! Ps, Antwerp blue and Prussian blue is made with the exact same pigment. If you water down Prussian blue a lot, the hue would be the same.
@kendravandruffwatercolorsАй бұрын
Thank you! That’s helpful to know! Never knew that about Antwerp and Prussian Blue.

Your amazon shop links dont all match your palette. You linked to Cotman veridian not artists quality. Colour layout didn't make sense. Please explain.
@kendravandruffwatercolorsАй бұрын
Many of my colors I put in my palette at different times over the last few years, which is why the palette layout is quite funky. (Some cooler pigments scattered with warmer ones) But works just the same! 😉 I linked to the Cotman Veridian due to that unfortunately the professional grade version is usually not available on Amazon for some reason but the Cotman version still works quite well (the professional grade is on Winsor & Newtons website though, which I linked in the description)

Could the mystery yellow be Yellow Ochre Light?
@kendravandruffwatercolorsАй бұрын
I bet you’re right!!
@discretelyobviousАй бұрын
it looks too deep for that. yellow ochre light is low tinting. if i could see it in the palette i might be able to identify it.
@kendravandruffwatercolorsАй бұрын
I will need to do a KZfaq short to show it up close so people can get a better look.
@dryingshiftАй бұрын
it actually could be a naples yellow, as winsor and newton also has two naples yellows: a plain naples yellow and a naples yellow deep. i think the color in the swatch here looks greener than any of the earthy opaque yellows on my dot card, but that could be the influence of lighting or my monitor calibration or like traces of other colors if it's been used for mixing?
@discretelyobviousАй бұрын
@@dryingshift yeah either the naples yellow is actually naples yellow deep and the mystery is naples yellow, it could also be raw sienna or turners yellow. I have every winsor and newton paint that's not toxic including some limited edition ones that were discontinued and thats our best guess without seeing the actual paint in the palette.
