It costs more than an acoustic upright with a real Action and a Digital Casio on the side for digital tasks of recording and apps 😂

Not gonna lie, that was a minor jumpscare. Most of the old player pianos I'm familiar with are, well, old, and very obviously different than regular units.

Please advise. I bought a brand new Kawai GL40 5’11” grand a few months ago. I love the warm tone, bass and crisp action. But I live in a small Aprtment and my entire dining room is occupied by my Kawai GL40. Would I be happy trading my Kawai GL40 5’11” grand for a more affordable Yamaha YUS5 52” upright? How so would I be content and what might I miss? I play a lot of Chopin and Brahams. A lot of romantic piano. Mostly thinking about it since it would save me some space but not sure. Thank you

Some of them have a glitch that produces a shockingly loud note when playing. Research before buying!

This was an issue with the first generation. NU1. This is easily fixable with a firmware update from Yamahas website.

So sad the way they make these. Each piano contains the trapped soul of a once aspiring musician.

Over the internet? We're putting Wi-Fi in pianos now? Also, can you really call it a Disklavier if it doesn't have a 3.5" Floppy disk drive in it? Maybe a Wirelessklavier...

I'm not sure but some decades ago they had midi or USB, and that's how you'd transfer midi files into the piano. Then they started adding Bluetooth so you did all that with your phone. In the future maybe they'll come with Alexa and it will connect to Amazon music and you'll be able to buy music sheet and piano recordings with voice commands.

I guess it would be useful for bands who have more instruments to play than members in the band, but it also puts musicians out of a job so idk how to feel

Thanks for checking out our video! The Disklavier technology is very popular for those who don't play piano to have a piano they can enjoy in their home but there are also some benefits for those who play, such as the record and playback feature, silent practice, and educational content! At it's core, it's a traditional Yamaha grand piano that can be played and enjoyed!

I have a basic Yamaha digital piano. I play it a lot but sometimes I just listen to the prerecorded pieces it has, they're good Chopin and Debussy interpretations. My toddler likes it a lot too, she puts Bach on and listens to it while she jumps around or draws. It does feel like listening to someone playing it, it just feels better than putting something from KZfaq or Spotify, because it sounds like the same piano we play and use. And I imagine this piano would be so much better, being an acoustic and resonant instrument.

Depends on the model/size of the piano. The extra cost for the technology on top of the piano is similar to other after-market player pianos but the Yamaha Disklavier system is the best functioning system in our opinion!

@@user-jp4ld1ss9i I am not sure whom you asked but my opinion is that an upright piano is always a compromise as far as action is concerned. If you can afford it and be able to manage with a bigger piano at home, keep your GL40 😊

@mfurman Thank you 😃 going in tomorrow to check out the brand new Kawai GX1 they still have as it would reduce the amount of space while still retaining a nice quality grand action and a GL30 Aures 2 that just arrived also brand new to have that silent practice option. The Bechstein A6 sounded amazing but like you said the action can’t compare to a good grand. Which piano do you have?

Thank you for checking out our video and for your comment! The Yamaha YUS5 and Bechsteins are both wonderful pianos. We hope you're able to achieve the goal of owning one one day. Many stores, like ours, offer full-value trade-up programs for periods of time which makes getting the dream piano down the road more accessible but still having a piano to play in the meantime.

The serial number in the description indicates that it was built in 1997, and the plate has New York Hamburg on it so it should be one built in 90's and later. But the smaller size of Steinway & Sons on the fallboard suggests it was from a much earlier year than 1997! Why?

Thanks for watching our video and great catch on the logo!!! This particular piano was refinished, which is somewhat unusual for a piano of it's age, but it was in a high use setting and the cabinet was beyond basic repair. Our refinisher applied the older logo, as that is their preferred logo and the one they had in stock at the time. The piano has since been sold.

Q: Do you do a pre-delivery inspection? I ask because I heard a KZfaqr claim he bought a D and found sawdust in his. Which I found VERY odd...that Steinway didn't do a pre-delivery inspection before sending it to the dealer and that his dealer didn't do an inspection. Was this KZfaqr making this up? I say ThAT because in another of his videos he did say a concert grand few could afford...implying not even he. He looks like some kid who stepped off the street who could play the piano. Always wears a jacket and/or hat in his videos. Needs a haircut. Looks like a street kid. Might be in his late 20's but is petitie. Why would Steinway ship any of their grands with sawdust inside? Why would they continue to finish building the piano leaving sawdust? Doesn't make much sense. That sounds like something some "Made in C___" brand no one's heard of would do. A knock-off. "Steinwye"...

Anderson, yes we do pre delivery inspections on all of our pianos that involves the exterior, interior, action parts, and tuning. It isn't unheard of for a piano to have a bit of saw dust or debris when arriving in store from the manufacturer. Often times the pianos are traveling all over the world while stood up on their bass end, so if there is debris present, it collects on the bass end of the sound board. If this is the case, the dealer should be the one to clean it after unboxing. - Zach
