if I have camera gear (canon 90 d slr, with shot gun mic, batteries, and charger, do you need a separate small camera case? and while going through TSA, do you need to place that camera case on a separate bin? or do I have to take out the individual camera items and then put them in a bin? Or can I leave my lap top, and all my camera stuff in my carry-on backpack and place the whole backpack in a bin for scanning?

Yes, no problem. You will just have to take the laptops out and place them in individual bins when going through security.

Hi Ben! Thank you for the insightful videos. I found cheap tickets from Sao Paulo to LAX with an early evening connecting flight between EWR and LAX. The layover is 105 minutes and both flights are on the same ticket, both with United. I won't check any bags. Do you think I can go through immigration (I'm Brazilian) and still make the connection?

It tends to be a little busier in the early evening because it's when a lot of international flights arrive from Europe but 105 minutes should be enough time to make it through customs and immigration.

Hopefully the gate of your connecting flight is close and you arrive a little early. 35 minutes is a very tight connection. If your first flight happens to get delayed even a little bit talk to the gate agent and have them rebook your connecting flight to a later flight.

As long as they are all for personal use there are no restrictions. Now, if you showed up with a suitcase full of electronics then that would cause some problems but with what you listed you will have no issues.

flying to seattle by myself for the first time at age 19...im terrified of whats to come but this video is helping me relax a little bit and prepare! i do have a question and im sorry if it seems like a stupid one but im only bringing one suitcase and a mini backpack to take on the plane with me...will i have to take the suitcase on the plane with me or will my backpack count as the carry-on?

Good question! As long as the suitcase fits the carry-on size dimensions for the airline you will be flying on you will be able to take your suitcase and your mini backpack.

Yes, you can choose to check your luggage but you may have to pay a fee depending on the airline.

I'm taking a trip soon and won't be taking any carry on bags with me. Just my jacket. I need to bring a USB charging cord and plug in or a portable power bank so I can charge my cell phone? How can I get these through TSA without a carry-on bag?

You can just stick them in your jacket pockets and then place your jacket in the security bin to be x-rayed.

Hi! im flying internationally this december to Africa with Lufthansa airline, do i need any form of parental consent to purchase the ticket, I was on the website and it lets me purchase it as a minor but i dont want to be turned away once im at the airport plz help!

You don't need parental consent to purchase a ticket. As long as you have a valid passport Lufthansa will let you fly internationally as long as you are over 12 which I assume you are. The issue will be if the country you are flying into in Africa will allow you to enter as a minor. You may need a notarized letter of parental consent from your parents to be able to enter. The best way to know would be to contact your home country's embassy or consulate located in the African country you are going to and ask about the entry requirements for minors.

Yes, you can carry colognes in their original bottles as long as they are in 3.4oz bottles or less and they are stored in a clear quart sized bag.

I have flown numerous times and I always bring a sliced bagel with cream cheese and hard boiled eggs with everything bagel seasoning. I also bring individual packed apples with caramel and cheese/crackers/carrots/ ranch dressing in a bento and I have never gotten stopped for it.

I’m so afraid of flying on Southwest Airlines. I have been always flying with AA and Delta , but AA has become expensive and really a bad experience in the whole experience . I fly a lot times to Tucson and I don’t have a lot of options . Is Swest a good option to fly? The seats has a good leg room ? Etc . Thanks

Yes, Southwest is a good option to fly. I either fly them or Delta. Compared to Delta, I think Southwest offers a similar experience to Delta's economy seats. I feel Southwest has maybe an inch or 2 more legroom. Southwest also only has one class of seating and there is no assigned seats but they are changing all that next year when they will offer at least add a premium seat with more legroom and the option to choose your seat.

You can wrap the blade up and pack it in the same bag. The blade just has to be protected in case security needs to inspect your bag.

Yes, you can carry your watches. They are personal items and can be carried into another country. If you were carrying a lot of watches you might get questioned on why you are carrying so many watches as it might look like you are trying to sell them overseas. Since you don't have documents of purchase I would take pictures of the watches with a date stamp to show that you owned the watches before you traveled just in case you get questioned.

A dumbbell is probably not going to make it through security as it can be used as a weapon. You can definitely pack it in a checked bag however.

Yes, you can have a single bottle with a mix of medication. It doesn't have to be labeled but it does help during the screening process.

Ear piercings shouldn't set off any alarms but if for some reason it does you can request a pat down or private screening instead of going through the body scanner.

Yes, you can put your laptop bag inside your carry-on and it will only count as 1 bag. If you are carrying an actual laptop you will still have to remove it when going through security so maybe wait until you are through security before you combining bags.

Hi Ben, From watching several of your videos, I am assuming that you live in Ohio. I live in Ohio as well. So, I have two questions, one is a general question, the other involves the Ohio area, but both concern flying Southwest. 1) If you apply for TSA Pre-Check after you have booked your flight on SW, I am assuming that, if approved, you are able to edit/ add the KTN to your reservation, correct? 2) I know that most, if not all the airlines that fly out of CMH, have a measurement frame for carry-on bags to see that your carry-on meets the specific airlines' specifications, but ...do you know of any business or retail outlet, OUTSIDE of the CMH terminal, that has these same measurement frames, as to avoid going to the hustle and bustle of the airport, merely to make sure said carry-on meets the specifications? Yes, from Columbus Ohio. To answer your first question yes, you can add your KTN any time after you have booked your flight up until you check in. Once you check in you won't be able to add it. To answer your second question. I do not know of any measurement frames outside of CMH. You can measure your bag at home. If you find that your bag is over by an inch you will still be ok and it will still fit in the overhead bins.

TSA PreCheck is a life saver. I waited to get Global Entry with it, and I applied on January 31st, got approved a week later, and then scheduled my interview scheduled for April 1st. All of that waiting was SO worth it! I hadn't traveled in two years, but right when i got it, I've been a frequent traveler. I love it so much! Anybody wanting to get PreCheck, do get it!

So....other than the laptop, its cords and the power bank....other things can be split apart and stuffed into your carry on...like plug adapters, a travel scale or luggage scale, an immersion heater and backup drives, like a small Sandisk or jump drive? Is that correct? Because putting all that stuff in a bulky electronics bag is really a space issue! Would that be OK if coming back from an airport like Rome FCO and their screening? I can't seem to get an answer even when I search official sites....

You just need to remove the laptop and the power bank. Cords, plug adapters, luggage scale, immersion heater, backup drives and Sandisks can stay in your bag even when coming back from Rome.

Thank you for your video. Very informative. I’ve seen other videos where they say. Keep pills in their original prescription bottles and then others say “No”, you don’t have to keep them in their original pill bottles. so I’m confused what to do. I saw comments where some viewers have said they take pictures of their pill bottles to show TSA if questioned, but keep the pills in pill packs. Some say they put them in clear pill bags, and then some say they take their whole prescription bottles with just the pills they need plus a little extra. Seems like there’s a lot of information out there, but it doesn’t seem to agree. 🤷♀️

This is the exact wording from the TSA "Medications in pill or other solid forms must undergo security screening. You can facilitate this screening by clearly labeling medication." There is no rule that medication has to be labeled or have to be in it's original container but it could certainly help.
