brass gold colored flakes means broken thrust washers between tc and intermediate shaft caused usually by a bad tcc solenoid and or valve body channel clogged ....all this is due to very dirty clutch pack debris in atf. Gray metallic debris means worn gear teeth in the gears...again dirty fluid clogged filters will regularly overheat beyond 220 degrees and this then leads to fast wear of internal rotating parts...

I have a question. So does the car need a tune-up & possibly new coils?
@robinsonsautoКүн бұрын
Thanks for asking! Regular tune-ups and maintenance are key to keeping your car running smoothly. A flashing light is a fault that can cause further damage in most cases so its best to diagnose as soon as possible

I'll never understand removing perfectly good factory components and replacing them with aftermarket. Then again, that constant engine droning would drive me nuts too. Will, Lisle makes a nice pair of exhaust hanger pliers. They're relatively cheap and they make short work of those rubber exhaust hangers. Highly recommended.

Nice one Will. I had a very similar one in a Nissan Elgrand that I fixed almost NPR for a customer a month or so ago. Had all the correct inputs, good power, ground and square wave signal and the speed control resistor tested good. So I opened it up and found two of the spot welded tabs to the motor windings had simply come apart, (one of the copper bars that you cut but right at the motor terminal) I didn't have my soldering iron with me, so I scrubbed/cleaned between the two tabs with a small file and reconnected the two tabs with the female end of a 1/4" flat blade crimp terminal to clamp the two tabs back together, which slipped on perfectly and nice and tight. Worked a charm, and no chance of them coming apart again like they could if they were soldered.👍

This is an issue that has been known for years now. It is due to a design feature of the block which has an open deck with slots cut between cylinders which eventually causes head gasket failure. Ford redesigned the block to eliminate this problem and has been replacing the bad engines. Of course this caused a huge backlog in orders for replacement engines. The design was changed around late 2019. If a newer engine develops a coolant ingestion problem it is probably due to a leaky intake cooler and is a very rare problem. EcoBoost 2.0 engines made in the 2015-2019 date range should be replaced as soon as this occurs. Some of the smaller Ecoboost engines of the same date range also have this problem and on those, Ford was replacing the block rather than replacing the entire engine.

Change the plugs & do an oil & filter change. Tell the customer to change their oil every 3k to 4k miles. Stop watching that oil life monitor on the dash. My 2012 Pilot will go about 10k miles before the oil change indicator reaches 0% - 10% oil life left. (My estimate). I change it at 3,500 miles..My son is a Master Honda Tech. He says most of the oil use issues on Honda's with VVT engines is from going too many miles between oil & filter changes.

All suddenly started acting up with this problem. My question is can it just be reprogram or is it a transmission problem that needs to be replaced, what you recommend please and thank you
@robinsonsauto9 күн бұрын
Hey there! Getting a mechanic to check it out would be a smart move in this case. they should be able to verify if you have a control issue or a hard part failing. Thanks for reaching out!
