I would say…try it for a month and learn as much as you can about it. If you don’t like it switch back to Octane. That’s my take.

Mann, why they make this so complicated is beyond me. Now in 25 the whole layout changed and you cant find half of these settings. Also why they dont make it traightforward like you make a selection and just paint in the layers like in all painting program. But thanks for the great tutorial

@@Nicksdesignspace Hey Nick, I found a way to open the EXR layered files in PS but even when in the viewer looks good, when you open it on PS all layers except for the beauty (no denoised) layer look wrong, like ACES doesnt really work… oh lord… looking forward to your video, thanks a lot,:)

Thanks for the valuable video, direct and easy to follow. I was unable to get ACES running and was wondering if anyone could help. I got stuck at the point where you load opencolorIO into Octane (Octane Settings > Color Management > Environment Config File). My Octane render settings don't include a tab for Color Management. Any suggestions? I'm using C4D R21 with Octane Render engine.

What is the point use ACES and render in 8bit? If you just want this saturated look, you can always do it in photoshop or after effects... You just making your rendering more confusing at this point...

Yeah, I believe in the node editor you can. All you have to do is make a key frame going from 0 to 100.

A lot of people struggling with issue where picture viewer does not showing nor saving colors like its in live viewer. Important note is to make sure you have very latest Octane version!!!(at the time i write this comment its Octane 2020.2.4)

To everyone who's confused by this: it's perfectly normal for the render to look overexposed in Aces. It's better to output in HDR 32bit Aces CG (Check out Chad Ashley's video) and then to use the OCIO plugin in After effects on top of your render to obtain the same image you had in the live viewer.

My advice is when you do the wizard setup it’s to increase the resolution to 4K and make sure to also fill as much as you can the polygons in the UV. Hope that helps!

Hi Yurio, not sure which C4D version you have. But in this tutorial I explained about the wizard setup using R21. Another tip you can do to make it more round is create “round edges” on the texture and you can also use Gaussian blur in photoshop to make the edges and bevels smoother. Hope that helps! Cheers!

Same, so many different windows and options that I don't have. C4D always moving things and changing - nightmare! Giving up for now, I don't have that Layers or Attributes stuff in UV mapping, I have some other windows. Will come back another day and try again when I'm less frustrated lol Actually I found another video for UV unwrapping a different way which worked - search for UV Unwrap Cereal Box and follow that dudes tutorial for the UV unwrapping.
