This is a banger but I have to admit the production doesn't suit Alexander's voice as much as other tracks on the album. The background singers actually overshadowed him. Alex's first two albums are classics, full of quality hits. One of my favorite singers from that era.

I like his performance of this at Live at the El Mocambo and at both Austin Limits performances. They are actually all great and different, which has been said many times.before. I love everything that Stevie has done. An amazing artist!

It was 1990, I got released from maximum security prison, already a broken man, then my brother Paul was hit by a train, it killed himfucking broke me even more, then his wife Patti was pregnant, then this song came out, I fucking cried I cried and I cried and cried more, the year before my other brother Bobby died while I was in prison, now when I listen to this the tears do not stop, I continue to cry and cry, every day I went to work I would cry all day this is so sad this song

2:50 Reggae influence? You betcha. The kick drum in the verse is on the backbeats 2 and 4 instead of on the typical 1 and 3, the guitar chord is on 2, and the bass on 3, 4 and the and of 4 (a 'push'). Very reggae indeed. And the album is called 'Reggatta de Blanc'. Like meaning: white people's reggae. And best of all: the drummer installed an electronic dotted eighth slapback delay on his hihat and snare hits.

Carly isn’t singing about suburbia. She’s from Manhattan. Her “suburbia” experience growing up was Martha’s Vineyard. It’s about life in general in the early 70’s.

Thank you for a Great reaction and appreciation of two of our most phenomenal Australian Legends, John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John! Both were amazing Talents and performers...the best! The GOATs! They were not a couple, but had a great friendship and respect for each other I believe. Please watch more of them sining together, e.g. Somewhere Over The Rainbow, and 'Dare to Dream' at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

The original studio version had an orchestra. The difference (this performance and the studio version) being that the studio version had a recitation of a poem at the end.

This was always one of my favorite Who songs. I love the part where Ivar the Engine Driver is introduced and the song slows a bit while Keith plays at double time. So intense.

Birds of fire! I well remember hearing them as a teen. My mind was just…wow. What a lineup of musicians. Billy on drums. Jan on keys. Jon was on another level. This song is a bit to disjointed for me.
