Does discus prefer this type of foods? I am setting up a 150 gallon discus only tank. I will be keeping all 5 inch plus adult discus of Malaysian bloodline ( costly though..each fetching 100 - 150 dollars piece ) and i don't want to feed heart mix foods which they are very fond off. It's a pain to do a 50% water change on daily basis with this much volume of water after feeding heart mix foods.
@TheFishRoom23 сағат бұрын
The discus I have since feed on this have been fine. As a staple preprepared food it is great.

Are you really a fish keeper if you don't over commit half way through lol. I made a very firm rule to myself when starting these day in the lives, that nothing will be hidden, if stuff goes wrong, you will see it, if things are flying high, you get to ride that with me as well. IMO it is the only way to be totally transparent in this journey.

Dream species, maybe one day... But for now the predatory fish I'm obsessed with is my captive bred Olive rockfish. It is a NZ endemic saltwater species that can apparently live for around 30 odd years and grow to over 35cm. My little one is a bit over a year old now and is not quite big enough to eat adult male guppies yet, but loves hunting mosquito larvae, guppy fry, slaters and small worms. Eventually, maybe 3 or 4 years away, I will add live crabs and smelt to the menu ❤
@TheFishRoom7 күн бұрын
Ohh never heard of them, I will have a bit of a google. Sounds pretty interesting for a NZ native salty tank

Best fish for outdoor tubs in NZ especially if you have a dark coloured base. I’ve had them outside overwinter with no problems and even had them breed for me in the tubs. (Half wine barrels)

@@TheFishRoom I mean are you going to make a highlight video of the stream, or some video shorts, or contact Dresdan, or anything along those lines. I would like to isolate the 10 minutes where he talks about the cardinal tetras he discovered south of the Amazon river. That story fascinates me and I have so many more questions, but I get the impression you don't think about it at all so in some way I would like to pick it up from there and delve into it more. Really there are many more parts, but this one in particular is something I have been chasing down recently when I heard of a rumored 4th paracheirodon.
@TheFishRoom14 күн бұрын
@@AquaHype We were cutting clips from our streams and turning them into highlights, but they were not returning in any way or form, so we basically stopped doing so. There was a few moments in this livestream, that really drew my attention, but because of the sound quality we decided to leave it as is, and to do a blog/transcript from it, which is still in the works. Be my guest to use this as you need. If you want the original we still have it on file.
@AquaHype14 күн бұрын
@@TheFishRoom OK thanks, a transcript would be helpful with tracking down some of the scientists he mentioned. If I can figure out a way to contact the right people in Dresdan I will do it. Cheers!
