Congratulations on the new job!! So well deserved 😊 Would you be able to provide some tips (either by replying to this post or via KZfaq video) on how you structured your resume and your portfolio and whatever else you did to send in to the job that you'd applied for. I'm in a similar position where I'm a graphic desire but I've only done freelance work and I haven't worked for any companies to put on my resume and I'm having a really hard time even getting noticed by companies and I'm having zero callbacks or interest. So I would really appreciate any helpful tips you have for someone in this position to land a new job. I have included self initiated projects on my resume and portfolio to show my initiative and self-learning and professional development. But my background and degree is in a completely different field, so that's why I'm having a hard time showing relevant experience on my resume other than freelance work and passion projects. Thanks so much Alice!! ❤

Thank you so much lovely! To be honest I'm not sure how much help I could be with this as luckily for me in this case my experience matched exactly what they were after so it was a pretty straight forward process. It may be worth speaking with a recruiter or someone you know who hires and see what advice they can give 😊

I’d defo make something with that sunflowery patterned fabric 😍 I don’t know if Ive misunderstood your sewing machine cable issue but I think the lead can unplug from the machine is that helps you thread it through the cupboard 😊

I loved this video!! it’s so fun to see you trying different types of crafts/art, it reminds me of when you did the DIY lino cutting/printing (feel like that was yeaaars ago!) ☺️ if you need more sewing inspiration my sister-in-law has an etsy store where she sells digital downloads for pattern designs called “KatieSewss” some of her jumpsuits would be amazing for you, especially if you love the baggy trousers! and also has KZfaq and tiktok tutorials under “ Katie.Sews” ☺️🩷

Good Job! Looks good. You can take some copy/printer paper and add it to the top of the pattern, then cut it to add how much you want to add so next time you will have the extra fabric that you need for the waist. 🙂

Also, I really liked the first one but not for a wedding. The weird arm band thing threw me off too. Is it possible to alter/remove just that part? I think then the cut and color would both be flattering. I don’t know what the back looks like to see if it’s possible but if it is you might be able to have another dress you like for another occasion. Tip for everyone….Sometimes a seamstress can work magic on a dress to customize it for your body for an affordable price too. Always check your local area for a seamstress and see what they can do before you give up on a piece.

I just saw a really nice wedding guest dress made by Emily Louise Rajch, she’s a fellow KZfaqr with a small business and she had a launch a few days ago. If I had somewhere formal to go I’d get her dress! It’s made with midsize in mind and has a back strap to cover the bra band while still having an open back. I think the brand name is ELR, but if you just search her name on KZfaq you’ll find her launch video (something about hiding your tummy this summer, I think) and you can see if you like the dress easily.

If you feel like your top is too long but don’t want to tuck it into your trousers/bottoms try tucking it under your bra slightly. It makes it into a crop top and makes it really flattering
