songbirds don't have folding in their cortex but are still very smart, people think because there is a super high density of neurons to make up for the fact there's no folding.

Language is how I think about sequential things, and use it to dive deep into the details of a topic; however, normally and by default, I think visually. It actually takes a lot of time and effort to translate a conclusion made visually into language to fine-tune it or fool-proof it. I speak multiple languages and can choose which one to think with. but I know for a fact that the most complex planning I do happens visually and without a single word. I also have this condition where sometimes I keep my awareness (and ability to remember) while falling asleep, and I have watched my brain lose specific functions including my location in space, limb position, distances, motor control (this one is physically scary) and also watched dreams develop multiple times. I'm happy to share my experiences and conclusions on this, but it wouldn't fit in a single comment. Also while going through the book "Archeology of mind", I found myself wandering around the topic being discussed while still reading. had to go back multiple times to the area where I lost paying attention to the book, only to get distracted at the same spot in the book, usually when talking about results of an experiment, and my mind unconsciously starts processing and incorporating that into my internal theory of mind, and at that point I find that my attention has switched from external to internal without my explicit permission, although I can focus on inhibiting it from switching if I wanted to spend the effort to do so.

Physical reading also helps your spelling, grammar etc . Audiobooks not so much. Physical reading is important but if you want to be entertained then go for it.

So, no one tests for cortisol processing issues b4 zapping my brain? Sometimes our awesome imaginations are mistrained due to hormone issues we create thoughts to match our messed up biology. It's not always psychology that needs to step in.

In my humble opinion. If comprehension is your main goal, the act of actually going through the book is almost secondary. There are more effective ways to build comprehension eg pre tests, mindmaps and even just skimming first. This would provide a solid skeleton for the information to then attach to. With the foundation set in the impact of wether you listen or read is almost negligible. Now if you are doing a novel, enjoying the flow is the primary, in fact good authors go out of their way to use visual language and repeat key plot points over and over again, so again it doesn't matter how you go about it.

1. Why does the click-pop sound during transitions have a negative effect? Because it disturbs the flow of thought and interrupts brain waves. 2. Why does a person talking about neuroscience use these negative sound transitions? Maybe because they want you to feel negative while watching. 3. Please don't say that memory, focus, and attention are affected, and that scientists have found that the click-pop sound will take over your mind.

If you believe it's a true democracy, then yes: you are partially responsible for what your country does; but let's be real. with the way voting works today, it's far from that. glad your practices worked. I found that sprinting (fast and short) gives a great boost in mood too

Most of my creativity comes while mind wandering around a topic while reading a book, or watching a video about it. It's really hard or impossible to bring up the subject intentionally without the assistance of an external source. Even though I don't focus on the source itself, having it allows me to build a background onto which I can visually think about the topic while tuning out the resource. This lasts until an outside distraction happens; after which I need the resource again to continue my thought otherwise I can't focus on any of it.
