Thanks guys for being so honest. It's really encouraging to hear you say this.

I would urge everyone to focus more on STORY....the SCRIPT, than on the incredible imagery that went into a film like The Creator. I absolutely appreciate how much it takes to make a film come together, but I am often disappointed when I look at incredible feats of imagery produced, with what feels like a very neglected STORY. The Creator was very much that for me. For all the hype, it was a huge let down. EVERYONE NEEDS TO LEARN TO WRITE BETTER, instead of focusing on SFX and beautiful imagery. Things are WAY out of balance.

Don’t watch assemblies. There is no need to go through that pain. You can have the editor make an assembly but don’t watch it. Start working with the first scene and work through the film scene by scene. When you watch the movie then you’re looking at something with more intention that actually gives you a feeling for what the movie can be and not just have to suffer through endless dread.
@iTzKneecap4 күн бұрын
Hell naw, if you find an assembly cut painful, you gotta stomach it and move forward as far as I'm concerned. It builds character. Personally, I know what I want and I see a more refined film through the fog an assembly because I allow them to be a tool for discovering what you have and what needs be done at a macro level to allow the first cut to function as a strong foundation going forward. And a strong foundation will lead to a smooth editing process for me (when directing/editing) or the director (when I'm attached to someone else's project). I'm not bashing your approach, as whatever works for the director is what matters most (and I'd happily employ that approach if a director who has me on their project insisted they work best in that circumstances), I'm just giving my two cents :)

With a film camera you would want to use a Richter Autocollimator or similar to probe to the film image plane depth!

Actually we built the base submount for this to take a Red DSMC2 submount, so this is super easy to do, since we have an LPL mount for DSMC2.

Hello! Is the Nodal ONE the only focal reducer that works with the Orions? Or, would the PL > RF or EF > RF Speedbooster work as well?
@AtlasLensCo20 күн бұрын
Nodal has proven to be an excellent combination with the Mercury and Orions on Komodo. Other focal reducers (besides XCALIBER) will not work.

About recording the gb cam output: there is a neat device called the PicNRec. "This cartridge goes in-between your Gameboy and the GB Camera which allows you to record the camera’s live view for 1.5 hours at 3 fps (max fps is ~5 in good lighting)"

The device that "intercepts" the signal happens to be called the "GB Interceptor" :D Happy to see it being used on the world's first anamorphic Game Boy Camera. About the recording directly to a hard drive: Not sure if there is an HDD recorder that could directly take a USB webcam, but if you are wondering about a compact recording solution, you can plug it into a phone and record the video stream there. Pretty much any modern device can take an external USB webcam (except the iPhone) and I have tested it with Android phones as well as iPads (yes, iPadOS supports USB webcams). The only tricky part might be finding an app that takes an external video source instead of the built-in camera, but the short test on Android looked quite good with an app called "nExt Camera".
@kylelowe20 күн бұрын
I believe there's a device called the OBSBOT which can convert UVC webcam signal to HDMI which could then be recorded with any HDMI recorder!

Not that is useless if your camera uses native PL mount only applies for cameras with mirrorless like mounts
@AtlasLensCoАй бұрын
Actually this is valid for native PL cameras like Red DSMC1/2/3 or even Arri and Sony Cameras. Each of these use thin metal sheets called shims to put the flange in the correct mechanical and optical position.
