Soo interesting! And yes of course I'll be happy yo learn about trains. You have a great way relaying this information I wonder how you can figure out the specifics of each individual antenna

Greetings from Sweden! Yet again, thank you. The Buzzer was weird again on sunday. That Digi-sound at the start is Kraftwerk the Model, pitched up and played backwards 1/4 then "upside down" 1/6 (they mirror the backwards so it's played "Back-fard-down"

The first clip you play sounds very similar the sound effect used in the episode of Gilligan's Island where the satellite lands on the island.

Given that a drone was able to reach them and damage them, makes you wonder if they are no more than a relic of the cold war and a bit of a trojan horse. Maybe drones just don't have the right radio signature.

Do you not get frustrated with never being able to get a firm answer to what some of these are? Im fascinated by this world of radio signals but its the thing thay stops me becoming anymore involved in it other than watching your channel,my brain couldn't tolerate the lack of answers, autism can be a bitch sometimes 😅

Russian claims about range and pickup ability seem outlandish for an over-the-horizon radar.

Could that first sound be anything to do with Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) ? I know 15745khz has been used previously as a test frequency? Could be worth posting on Sigidwiki if you have no luck IDing it Lewis

I wish my dad had receivers like these in the mid 60ties where his development aid job took him . Now with the internet this technology is wasted because all stations on all bands that we used to hear (BBC,France inter, Deutsche Welle)have disappeared and moved to the internet. The rest is Chinese or even jammed.

The two receive logs for the national services are about half a wavelength apart vertically. The local signal (from the antennas above) is picked up by both, but when they are combined the signal is largely cancelled out. This prevents the overload of the receivers on site from the high levels of local pickup. Also any intermodulation products created in the transmitter outputs and radiated by the broadcast antennas will be attenuated by the same process. The receive antenna feeders are probably combined inside the building (giving 3dB gain for the wanted signals from Sutton Coldfield), and providing the option to use one of the antennas in the even of a fault with the other without having to climb the tower. For Radio Derby, receive antennas are Yagis (more narrowband than logs, but only receiving one frequency). They are horizontally spaced, probably to null out an interfering frequency close to or directly on the wanted receive frequency, but off to the side of the antennas. Could also possibly to minimise crosstalk caused by the pickup of reflections of the wanted signal from close in terrain. They are lower down on the structure, so less pickup of the locally radiated signals.

If it was an optional Ironsides stopline strip? If operation Sealion had got a foothold on the south coast in 1940 or 41. Then any level hard standing could have been utilizes for emergency air defence . Plenty of old biplanes still around, in private ownership which if slow could still ferry people about.
