I watched him too many times in Tulsa Oklahoma people don't know that he sounded exactly like Johnny Cash when he sang imagine my surprise when I saw him on Johnny Cash show.

Mhm mhm when you left I shed a million teardrops over you But that's all over my crying days are through When you left my heart was cold and every day was blue But that's all over I've found somebody new Someone that can make me happy make me want to smile Someone I'm gonna have around me for a long long while Someday we may meet again but I won't fall for you That's all over I've found somebody new mhm mhm Someone that can make me happy... Yes that's all over I've found somebody new mhm mhm

That's a beautiful interweaving of a melodic line and chords but it isn't traditional chord melody with the melody in the top of the chords. A beautiful part of james' style.

That’s awesome, really enjoyed the sound, reminds me of going to the Old Forum Theater in Wichita in 1959 and listening to Cash and the Tennessee Two. Great work

Sometimes when I haven’t played a song in a long time, even I need a refresher! A lot of the time, I need a refresher on when to know to change chords. You’ll see too that sometimes I play it wrong in practice, but I’ll play it right when I record it. Usually it’s backwards and I’ll need once to practice and 100 takes to get it right. If you’re curious, I record on my phone (obviously) and use GarageBand to record it. I always add a little reverb and turn down the mids on the effects. When I add an echo, I’ll usually double track it and offset the second track and turn it down. Then I stitch it all together using CapCut. Don’t worry, I will eventually in time get a proper microphone and bring over my electric guitar and make recordings like I used to!

heard this tune at a jam in Curtis MI....he didn't have Luther's part...I learned it and took it to a jam in Texas....a friend there said it was his favorite Cash tune, and when Cash show came thru Vietnam they had a "meet and greet" for the G'I.'s and he told Cash that,,,,,now they are both gone but I still do the tune at jams and open mics

How doing a lesson breaking down how Bob Wootton played his style compared to how Luther Perkins did it, I think a lot of players try but mix the two styles without knowing the difference.
