Sorry this never got a response, Gardaí do not get to choose their station upon attesting. Those with young families are given a certain degree of consideration in most cases, but outside of that, you are sent where management deems you are most needed. Having said that, typically people are not sent from one end of the country to the other either. On occasion I've heard it has been possible to request being assigned to Dublin as for your first station, this was due to the ever increasing need for Gardaí in the region and only applies to Dublin. After a number of years, one may request a transfer, which is considered by Garda management on its own merits. Hope that helps.

It's a good safe underpaid recession proof job however, some of us want more from our lives than that.

In fact the whole reason I stumbled across this video was due to searching the Technical Beureau, that’s the closest I’d ever get to the guards and even then they aren’t guards... so what is your point?
