Mr. / Dr. O'Reilly: This is my "personal" opinion which I know doesn't really matter in today's world that we now live in. Your guided tours of such hallowed grounds are fine but, your condescending, politically correct narratives at the end are not. You, as a historian. should know better than to try and peddle such a flawed narrative. Confederate soldiers did not fight and die to preserve/continue slavery and you know it - Union soldiers also did not fight and die to end slavery and you know that too. A much higher calling was their Cause and you know that too. Just so that there is no misunderstanding, all eight of my direct line GGGrandfathers were Confederate soldiers that did their duty and served GOD and Country and NOT to preserve slavery. Facts are more easily digested than propaganda. Have a good day - Roy

He was so nice to me when he did his presentation. He asked at the beginning if anyone had relatives that fought here. My GG grandfather and his 3 brothers helped plug the angle with the 1st SC Orr’s rifles and all survived the 20 hours of fighting. Amazing moment…

We as people from the U.S. like to dramatize the Civil War eastern front and the WW2 western. Reality, both were won and lost on the others. Industrial, supply, and logistical things obviously being another issues, but as actual battles.

They should have added a third lane on Route 1 at the Courthouse intersections with the turn lanes. The third lane would have allowed more cars to get through the intersection. Building just turn lanes for $26 M will provide minimal relief and will add to the cost in the future when the third lane are built. The new 10' wide sidewalks will have to be demolished when the third lane is finally built.
